-47 to -49

Arctic Circle back in the early 90's. Slept outside for 5 days. Had to sleep with my film and batteries so they wouldn't freeze. Had the best gear known to man. Felt like I was freezing during the day. At night I slept in my bag and shell fully dressed with even boots, warm as toast.

Not sure what the coldest is, but it's looking like tomorrow will rank way up there.

Going to be -10 with the wind chill in Boston tomorrow. Hooray for my work commute.

-40 when I stepped off of the train in ND.

Was not too bad for the 1st 15 seconds or so, then it got REAL cold.

Minus 40. It hurt to breath.

Tires got stuck to road if you stopped for more than a few seconds. Had to go heavy on the gas to break the grip.

-25 Akron, Ohio in the winter of 1994.

I was just two years removed from spending all my life in the New Orleans area.

So cold, it took my 1990 Audi 100 20 miles of driving for the heater in the car to start working.

-8 in an ice carving display.

Outdoors. 8 degree night in Colorado once. I didn't make it to 8. Stayed outside long enough for my beer to get slushy as I was drinking it and my teeth to chatter. Had to be in the teens by then. I tapped out.
