This is hilarious. This reminds me of when NYC banned certain size soft drinks. Like this will somehow stop people from feeding their children sugary drinks. No to mention they're likely going to substitute some kind of Juice drink like Capri Sun with it and that's got to be almost as bad.
This is what happens when people elect idiots. I'm sure not having cokes and getting rid of racist statues while wearing a mask will make NOLA the Utopia it was always destined to be.

By gawd, you're right! We should probably, like.... limit what those cards are able to purchase. And who can obtain those cards in the first place....

restricting freedom and telling private businesses are not how you do that.
you do by implementing the JFK program aka the La Sierra high school pe program and you have kids starting in pre-k exercising every morning for first period.
you do that by implementing proper strength training in 6th grade
you do that by restricting what the LA purchase card can purchase
you do that by teaching proper nutrition and the benifits of exercise
you do not do it by removing PE and restricting private business.

diet drinks in general are by far the single worst dietary thing. They provide no nutritional value, they make you fat, they are hard on your body to process, the diet drinks have artificial sweeteners that are no bueno, and hell they are extremely hard on your teeth.
please explain and link studies that show diet drinks make you fat...aka coke zero
people in general need to drink way more water. but you are wrong on this.
as far as cleaning the car battery terminals...i can do that with oranges too. its the acid in it that neutralizes the corrosion.
no offense but you sound dumb

Cost of Happy Meal (that comes w/drink) + Cost of whatever soft drink you want
So, it is a tax on poor families? Got it.

you can clean the terminals on your car battery with the liquid, then you probably shouldn’t be drinking it.
Toothpaste also works. Should we not use it?

What kind of stuff do y'all think they put in apple juice? This isn't toilet wine; the ingredients for almost all commercially offered apple juices are water, apple juice concentrate, and the scary deadly preservatives are ascorbic acid (which is just Vitamin C) or citric acid. Most restaurants should also already be using apple juice and not "apple juice cocktail".
If we're targeting McDonald's Happy Meals, then they already sell Honest Kid's Brand apple juice which only has 8g of sugar in a 6oz serving (which is the size that the boxes are).

Box, please tell me where I have advocated more government. Because saying I disagree with what they did somehow translates to support of this.

Good thing they’re doing everything to they can to protect the African American youth.
so they can pass way too early from gun shots as a much healthier person.
not reading this entire thread to know that this is not only a gross overreach, but also stupid. There are much bigger issues to take on prior to worrying about dictating food/drink for kids.

My little girl asks for water when we have to grab food. So this isn't too big of a deal.

Unfortunately by the time kids get to a point where they can be educated the kids are already corrupted.
Everytime I drop my daughter off at daycare I am amazed that about half the kids are already obese. Kids are going to struggle their whole life.

Will restaurants even carry “kids cup” sizes anymore? Because you know everyone is going to just buy the drink separately now and probably give them a larger size with 50% more calories

You said you respect it and at least they're trying something to stop "ignorant parents." If you're too chickenshit to own your words, that also is no surprise.

I can’t believe people are still giving their kids soft drinks in 2022

so kids cant lose weight? my oldest was chunky as a baby and in day care...now he is in 5th and isnt anymore.
education starting in 1st and 2nd grade goes a long ways in introducing proper snacking and habits.
also sitting down as a family to a home cooked meals goes a long ways too, no matter the make up of the meal
same with havign a 2 parent nuclear family.

i let my kids get soft drinks when we go out to dinner.
they drink water with their lunches, milk or oj with their breakfast and water at normal dinner.
i dont see the need to restrict them were they are never allowed to have it, thats dumb.
its about teaching them the difference in the choices and why and when they should choose each.
kids are perfectly capable of learning and recognizing the difference between good and bad choices.

its funny, people send their kids to big government schools and then get all upset and butt hurt when the kids come home thinking big government is the answer

May I take your order ? :
Yes, my 140 pound 9 year old would like 2 double cheeseburgers and large fry and a coke.
You have to get juice, water or milk. :
ok, give him a milk and add a large Coke for me and you can hold the milk.
Genius.
