Cocktail attire question

I need a suit for a wedding that has the attire listed as "cocktail." Navy or grey seems to be what I need according to my research. Can anyone recommend a store in the BTR area that may have a decent selection? Looking to spend around $500 or less.

Not in BTR area, but Italy Direct in New Orleans has very nice suits for under $500.

For what most these days call cocktail attire, a suit will be overdressed. Cocktail in modern terms is sportscoat, open collar, and some nice chinos

You can't go wrong with a little black dress.

For a wedding? No.

I like Jos A Banks but I understand some people not liking them. Never had a problem personally.

For a wedding? No.
I am simply saying cocktail attire in modern times has morphed from what used to be a suit.

I don't know. I'd wear a suit and not chinos, given it was a wedding. But that's just me.

Try running over to the Brooks Brother outlet in Gonzales. Usually has nice sales going on.

For people that don't know how to dress. Cocktail dress is a suit. End of story.
