Motion sensors wouldn't work.
I like the net idea.

What are you suggesting here?

I heard on a podcast recently that it's not uncommon for people to jump from a cruise ship as a form of suicide. Often, they've received a terminal diagnosis and this is the last item on their bucket list. I'm not saying that's the case here but I found it interesting.

Net would likely kill the person during the fall. How often does this occur? Once a year? Probably over a million people cruise each year. Not worth it IMO.

She's attention whoring.

I've been on several cruises...I know trashy!!....and I don't see how anyone just accidently falls overboard.
She was either pushed, jumped on her own, or doing something stupid like climbing the railing. There isn't much more a cruise line can do protect guests IMO. Nets may have some effect, but depending on what deck you fall from, you'd likely be seriously injured or miss them completely.
If this was an accident it was easily avoidable-murder, or suicide- just a terrible way to go.

This would be way simpler than you think as well.
Laser fences are already cheap and in use for all kinds of manufacturing facilities.
A simple laser perimeter above the water line

Nothing. When speaking of him I just like his record to not be forgotten.

You have to really be trying to fall off a cruise ship. The railing are pretty high on them.
Posted on 5/14/16 at 9:08 am to CHEDBALLZ
Yea no one falls off a cruise. You either jump, are pushed, or you were climbing on the rails like an idiot and Darwin got you. No need for cruises to do anything more to prevent these falls.

That's crazy-my son and his wife (no pics) are on this same cruise. Not sure how he got talked into doing that.
