A review of existing research published Tuesday found that a single dose of the main psychoactive ingredient (THC) in cannabis -- equal to one joint -- in otherwise healthy people, can temporarily induce psychiatric symptoms, including those associated with schizophrenia.

As part of my continued urge of caution against the dope - this is yet another example of how it isn't the panacea all the dirty hippies think it will be.

If you have a healthy brain, marijuana is probably not the worst thing you can do to it. You're not going to be crisp or accomplish much while you're on it, but no worse than alcohol in the short- and mid-term, IMHO.

But, if you have a predilection for impulsive/compulsive behavior, despite it not being strictly addictive, I think we can all agree it can be habit forming in some folks - in many cases the exact people who do NOT need to be on the dope "chronically.". And the potential for brain damage to an already fragile structure is always there with psychoactive substances, whether it be MJ, psychedelics, powerful stimulants, etc.

Most of the positive benefits of the dope comes from the CBD side, anyway, but folks don't want to hear that because they just want to get high.

Tell me about the benefits or detriments of any other cannabinoid not named thc or cbd. There are dozens to chose from.

I remember that feeling. About junior year of high school, I smoked pot once, then my friends tricked me on my second time smoking and it was actually spice (that synthetic bullshite) and I started tripping out bad and it was a terrible time.
The next time I smoked regular weed, I felt paranoid and went apeshit thinking it was spice again and called my friend who sold it to me cursing him out screaming "WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME."

Needless to say, I'm a little more seasoned now

CNN deserves to get a lot of the shite that they do, but I'm not sure they deserve anything for this.

Sounds like they're just reporting on a recently published scientific review. This "journalist" still has a job to do, and it's likely the "science beat."

You should go bash the scientist that conducted the study if you're so upset about it.

Of course, over a hundred. But the focus is heavily on THC and CBD for obvious reasons.

Commercial production of some of the more promising ones (other than CBD) may be problematic because of so little that remains in each plant after processing. Obviously, I'm for research. Hell, I'm not against recreational use for adults, currently. I am just urging caution.

Eh uh, and tell us o' mighty THC expert...

Why is it that anandamide (Sanskrit for bliss), made in the body of every normal human being, is an endogenous mimic of THC? And as of yet no endogenous cbd equivalents have been found?

So this means it should be illegal?

Pretty dumb post.

And CBD isn't really effective without THC so there's that.

Where the frick did I say that?

In my follow up, I said I thought recreational ought to be legal for adults. I'm merely urging caution.
