If male Hurricanes were deadlier they'd say it promotes the stereotype that women are weak.

So the World Meteorology Organization can predict the future?
That's fricking awesome.

You should look up articles where they complain that hurricanes aren't named "black names."

well we all know storms should only have white peoples names anyway.
No one wants a storm names Hurricane Quandrika

That's a pretty screwed up cisgender article.

Isn't it more sexist toward men?

Study seems to have a bunch of flaws. Not to mention that male names weren't even used until the 1980's so of course female storms are deadlier.
Anyone from LA would likely be more afraid of female named storms given Betsy, Camille, and Katrina.

I remember when Sheila Jackson Lee complained that there weren't enough Hurricanes with "ethnic" names. Then along came one named "Katrina"

CNN is basically a tabloid now.

I found a glaring mistake in the article:
Not true. The tradition began with Navy observers who informally named storms after their wives or girlfriends. It was considered cute and romantic.

For decades, all hurricanes were given female names in part because hurricanes were unpredictable, the study said, citing the "Encyclopedia of Hurricanes, Typhoons and Cyclones."

It doesn't surprise me. Women and hurricanes both wreck your shite.

This.
I'd like to see the data on deadliest hurricanes since the list went coed. Then control for size, population density in the disaster zone, warning time prior to landfall, and day of the month it hit. The last two are important factors CNN would easily miss. You need 72 hours to fully evacuate a major city and NOLA wasn't in the cone until Friday afternoon. And poors don't have any money on the 28th of the month.
