CNN: CDC COVID recommendations are “out of touch.”

CNN
quote:
In another piece of guidance, the CDC tells people who've recovered from Covid-19 that they can leave their homes after five days -- and while they are out and about for the next five days, they should avoid being around more than 80% of the US public. Dr. William Schaffner, an adviser to the CDC for four decades, said it's "unlikely, unreasonable, and unrealistic" to think Americans will follow either of the agency's suggestions.
quote:
Such out-of-touch advice has been a hallmark of many CDC recommendations long before the pandemic began, and the agency needs to do better, said current and former health officials and physicians who have worked with the CDC on health guidance.
quote:
Over the past few weeks, the agency has faced criticism for issuing guidance that was confusing or seemed counterintuitive. In this case, the criticism is different; the concern is that CDC staffers, while hardworking, smart, and well-intentioned, don't always consider whether Americans will -- or even can -- follow their advice.
quote:
Part of the problem, Schaffner and others say, is that CDC scientists are sometimes stuck in a bubble. "You've got nerds -- literally science nerds -- who are writing these things," said Dr. Otis Brawley, who worked with the CDC on cancer guidance while he was chief medical officer at the American Cancer Society from 2007 to 2018.

They're right about the recommendations being out of touch, but not for the reasons they think. There should be no quarantine for asymptomatic positives or close contacts who are asymptomatic.

Even CNN isn’t buying their bullshite. That’s when you know you’re hitting rock bottom.

I don’t understand what they want.
They admit people likely won’t follow CDC guidance but want the CDC to do something.

But guidance is exactly what it is, nothing more. They sound like they're wanting mandates and required quarantining. Good luck with that.

You have to turn it on to listen to it.

Remember when CNN told us that questioning the CDC guidance was right wing extremism?
These assholes need to shut the frick up and do what they demanded the public do - follow the guidance without question

CNN saying anything about any group of people living in a bubble is the best example of irony I may have ever seen.

If your recommendation for avoiding HIV is “don’t have sex with anyone until this pandemic blows over,” don’t be surprised if people view you as out of touch and don’t take your recommendations (even the good ones) seriously.

I just love how so many people treated the CDC and WHO guidelines like the gospel for the last two years, and barked at anyone who questioned or went against it...until now.

I'm going to sue the shite out of a science denier if they get me sick.
Get vaccinated. Mask up.

Only if I need to accessorize, so it just really depends on my outfit.

They want the CDC to issue simple, but draconian recommendations.
They liked it better when a positive test resulted in a two week lockdown for everyone that came in contact with that person.
