Choose a better degree/option for school.

Dumbasses who think they have to attend Prestigious U to get a useless degree in Sociology are the problem.

Didn’t read…but title reminds me of the soy boy the other day posting about having to work 50 hours a week….

That was my thread, and I’m not complaining about working 50 hours a week. Your reading comprehension failed you. I would happily work 50 hours or more a week if I was competently doing my job.

I hate my job because they didn’t give me enough training and support when I was hired to actually be able to do my job and now I’m struggling mightily. It’s especially bad now that it’s busy season.

Everything is turning into a shite show unsurprisingly.

I find it comical that CNN is reporting on a problem that THEY are a big part of causing.

Do people really buy in to garbage like this? At no other period in history could just about anyone build the type of wealth that’s seen nowadays. Millenials have so much at the tip of their fingers. Gamers, streamers, OF, influencers, Youtubers, podcasters etc. These folks make millions. Not to mention the legitimate trades like coding, handyman work, and all the part time work like Uber and the WFH jobs. Articles like these are just ingested with crap and no relevant data.

I do agree that a lot of things are shittier now. College, housing, medical, and the various insurances cost more today with relation to incomes.

I also do see a lot of waste among young people. They overbuy on cars and houses, eat out too much, and expect vacations and other luxuries that previous generations didn’t.

I think what it boils down to is that young people today were raised in “better” times than they now experience in adulthood. They are unprepared for the realities of today because they and their parents expected things to continue to get better and better, such as in the 90s.

They fell victim to the higher education scam. It's the most overpriced commodity in this country today.

Going to a prestigious university matters for only a very small subset of careers. Also, just because you know someone who went to Dartmouth and still got a Wall Street job with a History degree doesn't mean you can do the same with a History degree from Bryn Mawr.

No one should ever take out a car loan or a home loan. Save. Do everything you can do to avoid any kind of debt.
