I will answer for my wife....and this was over 30 years ago... as the op said very well
“When my first child was born I was against disposable diapers.
It took one day for me to change my mind. “
They sent us home was a few packages from the hospital....and we were very frugal... we decided disposable diapers would be our luxury purchase...
We are still using all those diapers as dusting rags.....so at least you got that going for you....

Exactly, and when they pee it's like they are wet from head to toe.You feel like you need to give them a bath after each change.
Disposable diapers,Pampers, had just come out and they weren't near as good as what is here now,but they were a God send for the baby.
We wound up using the diapers, the unused ones, for wiping the chin during bottle feedings and for puke rags.Always had one draped over our shoulder, haha.
If folks want to use cloth diapers then best of luck.We tapped out with the quickness.

Sounds like your wife has a screw loose if she is eagerly anticipating being up to her elbows in human shite.

From someone that did it
1. You spray the poop into the toilet with a sprayer, like on your sink. Not a big deal
2. You clothes do not smell like shite in the washer. You don’t actually put the shite diapers in your washer with all the shite left on them. After you squirt them off in tbt toilet, it’s like washing a skid mark. NBD
3. They are expensive up front but will be cheaper in tbt long run. You will need different inserts when they get bigger (these are cheap)
4. You will have to change the diapers more frequent, especially poop. They don’t wick the wetness off like disposable ones.
5. You will need about 40. We washed once every 2-3 days in the beginning. Then once a week after 4ish months when they stop pooping 12x a day.
6. Only thing that MAY get on you is diarrhea.
All in all, for 1 kid it’s not terrible. We also made the decision for if/when you travel go disposable because the washing is a pain for that.

We found there was a big difference in quality among the disposable ones too. We tried the cheap brands a few times and my daughter's crib would be all wet half of the time the next morning.

As crazy as my baby momma is, she never even considered cloth diapers.
Tell your wife that the time it takes to hose off and clean the diapers is time you could be spending bonding with the baby. And think of all the fecal matter that’s going to be spread through the house. Does she plan to use disposable wipes to clean the baby’s butt? That would be hypocritical. Butt Paste, soap, etc. come in plastic containers! Does she use disposable feminine products???
If money’s not an issue, you can use a diaper service but otherwise find a brand of disposables that work and buy a diaper genie.

Pretty much this. It only works if you can dedicate a toilet for it to spray the shite out of the diapers. You need a bucket with a hole in the bottom on top of the toilet seat to do that. It won’t work without a dedicated toilet because it’s gross as hell if you have to move that bucket on and off the toilet several times a day.
Otherwise you will spend a ton on a cleaning service.

We talking adults or babies wearing cloth diapers?
Posted on 5/17/20 at 2:44 pm to LSU Coyote
We used a washable diaper called Fuzzy Buns. They are a terry cloth fabric with a waterproof, but breathable, outer shell. It comes with a thicker insert. Pee, no biggie. Most of the time with the other you just let it roll/fall off into the toilet and wash in your washing machine. No oders are imparted on your clothes if you don’t wash them together. If we were “out”, we would use the disposables. It’s not your maw maws cloth diapers.

If you have a 2nd washer, let her do it. She will burn out in a couple weeks and everything will go back to normal. Pick your battles, but let her know up front that you aren't washing diapers.
ETA: Pro tip: keep a box of diapers around for the first time she "forgot to do the diaper wash" and you're an instant hero and likely much closer to putting this behind you.

Kinda my plan, but she wants me to make a drying rack out of cedar. It is getting ridiculous, I'm trying to fight it off.

We did it. Not so bad, subscribed to a cloth diaper service. They would pick up and drop off once a week. We put them in an odor saver bin and wait for them to come...
So I can't lie though, a couple of times my kid pooped while we were out and about, and rather than bring the diaper home we just threw it in the nearest trash can!

Allow your counter to clean the poo before washing
