They have a policy.... meanwhile she got to keep her life.

You want to know another policy they have? Allowing night shifts to be manned by a single worker.

quote:

Many stores, particularly during the late-night or third shifts, operate with a single employee, a practice that has raised safety concerns among workers.

frick them.

She literally would have been brutally murdered if she followed company policy.

Sounds like 7-11 needs to answer for why they provide workplaces so unsafe that employees need to pack heat to survive their shifts.

This stuff starts getting into infringing upon people's rights to protect their own lives. If the company isn't going to take responsibility for protecting their lives while on the clock, how can they prevent people from doing it themselves? Are people legally allowed to be forced to give up their own life on the job?

I think at some point in the future the ones creating gun-free zones are going to have to be held responsible before this stuff gets fixed.

Perp can steal whatever he wants, but if he wants me, I'm putting up a fight.
And I did often have a gun behind the counter, policies be damned.

I read years ago that Gainesville (?) had a law that required two employees in a convenience store after dark.
Cut convenience store store crime 80%>

That's a good law.

I've also seen convenience stores partially close at night with a walkup window bank teller style. That's a good idea too.

What's a terrible idea is one employee, at night, with no protection or self defense allowed.

You can't go into a 7-11 without a slight Indian accent.

She would have done the world a favor if she would have killed the SOB.

Pretty sure his life of crime is not over, no matter how this pans out for him.

I would have to concur, but that doesn’t change the fact that most corporations are vile, soulless entities with no regard for anything other than profits

The cashiers at the gas station off 90 in Raceland open carry. I thought it was stylish seeing the petite cashier with a big iron revolver on her hip.

I think this needs to become a legislative issue at this point.

Obviously no one "made" her work there... but pulling a night shift at a gas station makes me think her employment opportunities were rather limited.

I would like to see a law that compels these places to pick one of three options,

1) Let the lone employee be armed

2) Require a 2 employee minimum from say, 9pm-7am

3) Require that if a store refuses options 1 or 2, that access to the store be restricted to a secured walk up window from 9pm-7am.

And of course 7-11 fires her for violating policy.

I met a guy up in Columbus Ohio that was fired for the same thing except he whacked the robber with billy club. No gun.
