no. it's for leaders/teachers/people who are working with a diverse population group. It's not a one vs. one dick measuring contest.

If it's a business meeting and your potential clients are from those cultures, then you're damn right their norms take precedence.

BUT they won't do what I'm used to them doing and I'd rather be upset!

Hell, showing up early in US culture is a bad thing sometimes. Someone showed up 30 minutes early for a job interview and they definitely got points against them for that.
"Do they really think we have the free time to accommodate them or let them wander around our halls for half an hour?"

They probably have international students.
It is kinda important to be aware of such things.
I lived with a guy who worked at a university briefly. He learned quickly he couldn't tell people from South America he was Spanish because they refused to talk to him.

If you are attending a U.S. school, shouldn't the U.S norm apply? I've been in other countries where "on time" was different, but I adjusted to their norm, and I didn't think they had any duty to adjust to mine.
So, if it is "be on time for class" then they should be on time per one standard.

Is this not fricking America? Conform to our culture bitch.

Is CPT culturally acceptable. is it racist to bring it up, or racist presume and to let it go and accept it a culturally acceptable. Just a random example.

It should be and is. But it doesn't mean they're going to adjust/adapt to all the nuances immediately.

y guess is SC will catch up and surpass Clemson in the near future.
God willing, it will destroy Clemson as it has Mizzou.

Los Angeles on time is twenty minutes late.

Show up habitually late and I don't give a rat's how you try to explain it away, you'll be fired.
But hey, you can still feel special

"Africa time" is a real thing. Times are useless over there. When they say "9am Saturday" - that means to expect them some time Saturday, whenever they get around to it. In east Africa especially, worrying about the time is considered rude. Also, in the more religious areas, they intentionally don't follow strict time guidelines in order to let God lead them. Kinda cool. Very frustrating at times.

When I wanted to actually start a meeting at 9:00 I simply stated the start time would be 8:30, worked for 99% of the people.

So is Native time in the USA.
The also have a much different concept of personal space. Not uncommon to have them walk into your house if you live in the village, eat your food and not think anything about it.
Managed a business with a large pctg. Of native workers, none made it more than a month without getting fired.

In my culture, 5am start time means be there at 4:45.

In Germany, you arrive ten to fifteen minutes early or you are quite rude. In Greece if you show up at the designated hour you are being rude and imposing on your hosts. in Los Angeles on time is twenty minutes late.
Yeah, frick that.
