Civil engineers of the OT, how does this pic make you feel?

I worked for an engineering/survey firm before and more often than not, this has to do with site construction not paying attention to the plans. But I have seen plans where the grading didn't seem to be a high priority when it came to QC'ing the drawing.

Got drunk before shooting the grades.

Currently sitting in my Hydrology class, actually.

I'm not a CE, but if I was, I'd want to punch that contractor in the mouth...

Looks like the drains at the box.

Those inlets are around the first things put in, and benchmarks are provided to make sure the tops are exactly where they need to be. Really no excuse.

It makes me think the contractor is gonna try to get a change order through to get paid to fix their frick up.

This shite happens all the time. Hopefully you can get the site surveyor in their to shoot all the tops to make sure they're where they need to be.
And when you're looking at a grading plan, it's easy enough to trace where the water is going to go. If your top is higher than anything around it, of course this is going to happen.

Close enough for government work.

I think I heard/said this every day I was out in the field as a surveyor

I don't know where that pic was taken, but that has New Orleans written all over it...

Looks like the ground around the box culvert settled over time.

That's very possible with brick pavers, especially if the ground wasn't packed right before setting.

Probably, especially with the spacing between the precast pavers around the culvert...
Good eye..

Looking at it some more, the box is still flush with the pavers around it, so all of it would have had to settle if that's the case.
