The City of New Orleans said demolition at the site of the collapsed Hard Rock Hotel is on schedule.

The city has set a date to remove the bodies of the remaining construction workers that have been trapped inside the rubble since October 12.

According to the city, the recovery mission is set to begin July 13.

The city said it could take four to five days to remove the bodies of 63-year-old Jose Ponce Arreola and 36-year-old Quinnyon Wimberly.

The city also said the demolition process is on schedule.

"We are seeing steady progress," said Michael Tidwell, the City of New Orleans communications director. "The red zone buildings have all been removed. The debris has been cleared away. There's now a second crane, so hopefully shortly."

Anthony Magrette, 49, also died in the collapse. His body was removed the day after the collapse.

And it only took 9 months!

Can someone explain to me with some sort of rationale why it didn’t begin relatively immediately after the fact?

I miss the days of laughing at DeStroya for banning tandem floats.

It would have been nice to attempt this while everyone was indoors and the streets are clear. I fully anticipate the tear down to start the moment things are open back up.

I call BS

This structure should have been taken down and debris should have been all removed in March and April when the city was shut down.

Screw both LaToya and the thug Kalis family, both are equally at fault.

Beyond ridiculous. Where’s the dignity for human life? What a morally corrupt politician and city government.

I have no idea. I am not an engineer or an expert in construction/demolition. But I think the general public feels that 9 months is too long.

What would you have done?
