Way to jump the shark on the discussion. And it was not culturally normal for Americans to own slaves. An extremely small percentage ever did.

Circumcision is a religious practice. Ok. But wasn't it the jews? Why are Christians doing it?
Are you questioning why people want it? Or are you advocating for its banning?

Then it was culturally accepted. Mincing words much?

I've never even considered the notion of banning it. I didn't consider it much at all until I was about to a boy of my own. And after considering that, I considered it unnecessary, medically dubious, barbaric, rooted in someone else's tradition, and done mostly "because that's the way it's been done."
Thankfully it is declining.

Generations from now we'll look at it as barbaric.

Not for the reasons you think. It’s declining because Medicaid quit paying for it and also it’s not the cultural norm with many immigrants.
So congrats, your kid will fit right in with the poors and the immigrants. Meanwhile, middle and upper class white people will still have it done.

It’s basically a cosmetic procedure with some medical and sanitary benefits.
Cosmetic surgery, and the public acceptance of it, is at an all time high. There is no evidence that cosmetic procedures, even those with zero medical benefit, will decline in popularity or acceptance.

This is such millennial/Gen Z bullshite drama. It's not being "mutilated" Jessica.
Would love to know how many of those using the mutilation angle have tattoos everywhere

We are giving tattoos to infants now?

It's either mutilation or it's not. The "consent" portion of the discussion is a different argument.

Would you want someone cutting on your member? Just because junior is little doesn’t mean it won’t hurt like hell. Some say circumcision traumatizes men subconsciously for life.

Think about it. Everyone agrees it's wrong to beat the shi t out of a baby. Just a horrible thing to do. Even if the baby would physically recover 100%. The body remembers pain even if the mind doesn't.

There are extremely shitty, moronic-level analogies.
And then there is this shite you just typed.

Here you go: 5 Second Google Search
quote:
After a review of the surprising abilities of infants and their responses to circumcision pain, the long-term psychological effects of circumcision are examined from the perspectives of both traditional and more recent, innovative psychological theories. We learn that circumcision has potential effects not only on men and sexuality, but also on mother-child relationships, male-female relationships, and societal traits and problems. The text is supported with clinical reports, interviews, surveys, and thorough documentation.
CIRCUMCISION: THE HIDDEN TRAUMA identifies an overlooked source of early pain and simultaneously points us in the direction of both healing and preventing this pain. It is of particular interest to men who seek to explore their sexuality and deepen self-awareness; women who want to understand men better; parents and children’s advocates; childbirth educators and allied workers; and mental health, medical, and academic professionals. The book has wide appeal because, more generally, it is about trusting our instincts, questioning some of our cultural values and assumptions, and reflecting on who we are and who we can be as individuals and as a society.
Not sure you have much to feel smug about. Nice try, though.
