Anyone remember the original name of the Chinese restaurant on greenwell springs? The building is still there. Very large building, had a bridge with koi ponds, very opulent interior. Trying to remember the name when it opened in mid to late 80s.

My brother was friends with one of the owner's kids. I remember him because he came over to play Atari video games and was the first kid I ever saw with one of those sweet silver Atari jackets.

I grew up in Central and remember the place. IIRC the roof was red and it was a pretty ornamental building.

Everything that I grew up with in that area is not there anymore. Flea Market on Florida where I used to buy my sports cards closed down, Albertsons where I used to read all the sports magazines while my mom did the shopping on North Sherwood and Florida closed down, St Louis King of France where I used to go to school and church closed down, the Real Superstore closed down but the one that was closed since mid 90s lol, BREC center on North Sherwood where I used to go to summer camp looks like crap now, but the one that was the last straw for me was the Taco Bell on Greenwell Springs that closed down where I used to get Mexican pizza from. I was like

Phoungs!!

Building is still there but it’s owned by a concrete company now , Heck or whoever bought Heck is operating out of the property that it’s in now. I don’t think they use the building.

The Tams family owned it. They lived in Monticello. Nice place it was, not sure why it didn’t do better?

We used to go to Co-op and the snowball stand near there all the time. I'm rarely in that area these days because I don't have much family left in Central.

The fact that Co-op and Video Palace weren't your first two choices is just SAD.

Just drove down that stretch from downtown to Central last week. I'm amazed how bad it is the entire way from Airline to Flannery.

It’s death row now. Except for chicken and car wash places.

My brain is just not picturing this. Where on Greenwell Springs was this?

Ohhhhh!!! Their son Jimmy is my friend. I recall this now.

I supposedly have eaten there when I was really young, but I don't remember.

I mostly remember going to Nine Dragon over by Eckerd's.
