Pretty crazy to think there were sons/daughters of Civil War vets still around in the 21st century.

their fathers were old when they were born. there are like 50/60 year differences between the battles and the late 1910s/1920s
unless this was filmed at an earlier time and just released in 2014

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Even if they were 15 at the end of the war that would have made them 70/71 when their children were born.

I knew someone whose grandfather was a Civil War veteran. As a kid he got in trouble at school for "telling fibs" to the other kids about it. His Dad had to go to school to set the teacher straight.

When John Tyler was born, George Washington was serving his first term as president. The fact his grandkids are still alive is so crazy.

My great grandmother died in 1949. My great grandfather was a Confederate officer who had died 35 years before. Her pension during her last years was about $25 per month. They had married back in the mid 1880s and their age difference was only about 12 years. She wrote a booklet about her life for her family. It’s a great read.
