Kudos to the Dad, and thankfully this had a happy ending. But anyone should be able to tread water for a long time, and the depth doesn’t matter. Most of these incidents end in tragedy by virtue of how hard it is for a cruise ship to locate someone that has gone in the water.

I agree. It’s near impossible to fall from a cruise ship. She was doing something she shouldn’t be doing is my guess

Those railings aren't all that is there. There is also a glass/plastic wall there. 100% that kid climbed over.

It's only hard for lardasses that frequent the buffet on cruises.

I agree that most or anyone should be able to tread water for 20 minutes, but as someone else said, most Americans are lard asses and we do not live in a society of a higher percentage of normal or athletic type built people

It’s incredible that they both survived - these stories almost always end in death if they can even find the body.

Hell yea to dad. Whether he should have parented better or not is irrelevant. Accidents happen. He responded to the situation. He saved his daughter’s life.

Got a bunch of perfect parents in this thread.

What a great dad. Dude has his wedding toast at the ready.

All future boy friends aren’t going to stack up.

Treading for 20 minutes while also helping the “small girl” is incredible

I took water survival years ago. They had us get in a pool fully clothed and just dog paddle or tread for ten minutes. Most of us were extremely tired at that point.

Curious to the age of the girl. Just finding here in the water in time to help is crazy itself b

Is treading water in deep arse water harder than treading water in shallow arse water?

You’d be surprised what you can do especially if it involves saving your child

This. Kids can get into a shitty situation in the blink of an eye no matter how much you actively supervise them. But tOT gonna OT

Yes, treading in open ocean is harder than treading a pool. Are y'all really this stupid?

I’m surprised the props didn’t suck them under the ship I’ve always heard that was a thing

I’ve stood in chest deep water on a sandbar on the ms river and you can feel the barges props pull the water from pretty far away

Salt water is more buoyant than fresh.. but if the water is choppy, yeah.
