"I feel that waiting for all of the evidence in this case to be gathered is the most prudent course of action I can take at this time," Dabadie wrote. "I urge you to reconsider your position and let the criminal process conclude."

That's pretty ballsy of a chief to go up against a president like that.

He knows he is getting fired anyway....may as well stand up to her since she is never going to change her mind regardless.

Not only is she a president but she's a mayor- president. That trumps just a president

Broome got elected on the back of the AS issue and i'm not sure if she's just posturing b/c of election promises or is truly stupid enough to think she could unilaterally fire the chief, but she declared war. the question is if she can win this war (She's losing it badly after today)

Why is he cowing to her by asking her to reconsider? Either ignoring her or simply stating that 'as they do in all cases they will wait until investigation is complete to decide if any action is necessary' would have been better, IMO.

I thought she can't just fire him. He hasn't given her sufficient reason to IMO

Still not as high as precedent.

So does Broome trump Trump?

Because he's out the door. May as well go out swinging.

I'm sure there is just a mountain of evidence out there still waiting to be gathered.

She is burning all of her ammo early. He has yet to fire a shot. If she continues to be unreasonable she had better be sure that she has no skeletons in her closet, or a kilo of cocaine under the seat of her car.
She had also better not drive herself home from any of those meetings where alcohol may be consumed.
He probably knows what he is going to do and is waiting to blow her up when the time is right.

He's trying to get his statement out rather than letting her continue to control the narrative. She's got her crosshairs on him and she's begging him to give her a reason to pull the trigger. This is a very polite way of letting her and the public know that she's completely out of line to demand that these cops be fired without so much as a basic investigation. It's a smart move and the fact that he's throwing out facts in a very polite way so she can't use it against him is going to get under her skin even more.
