A Chick-fil-A owner recently had to shut down his Austin, Texas, restaurant for five months for renovations.
Instead of temporarily laying off his 50 workers, Jeff Glover shocked his staff by continuing to pay them during the entire five months the restaurant would be closed, ABC affiliate KVUE reports.

Glover even gave them a $1-per-hour raise for sticking with him.

Starting pay at Glover's Chick-fil-A is $11 an hour and he pays full-time workers roughly $3,600 a month before taxes, according to KVUE.

"It would be a real financial crisis for the 50 families represented by the workers here to have to go five months without a job," Glover told the station.

Yeah let's just pay people to do nothing, that sounds like a great system! I thought this was a Christian run company, didn't Jesus say that people should work for money?

Holy shite they must be raking it in if 5 months of expenses, with no revenue, is something you can cover.

Just. Damn!

Perhaps it would have cost him more to get an entirely new staff up and running at the end of 5 months?

One can infer that full time workers make more than 11 dollars / hour.

and that you are not good at inferring.

Perhaps he should have given them all shovels and sent them to digging ditches instead of rewarding their sloth with unearned paychecks.

Jesus said nobody gets a free lunch, but this guy thinks he's smarter than Jesus I guess and just did whatever he wants.

he'll take it in the teeth, but there's profit to be made from publicizing something like this. plus, I'd be willing to bet that a majority of his employees are much more efficient than the average Mcdonalds worker

Could be bonuses, overtime, or any number of other things included in that figure. Could also include benefits such as health insurance and 401k as well. My total annual salary figure at work is about $15,000 higher than my actual salary because it includes all of my benefits.
