Both of his “attackers” said that they were paid by Smollet to stage the crime, for which they can produce a check in the form of payment and can be seen socializing with Smollett before the attack. Then he lied to the cops about knowing the two men.
He’s going to have the whole black privilege thing, but a normal person would have trouble getting out from under those charges under those circumstances.

After they denied any involvement and finally changed their story after hours of being interrogated. Which should present doubt in a jury without any evidence to back it up.

This matters a lot. The story I heard is that the brothers confirmed the check was for training. If this isnt the case, my tune will change regarding the case.
