I also would like to take a moment to talk about the kid's parenting. What reasonable parent allows their young kid to be out roaming the streets so late? Let's attack the enabling society here, if we really want to end "police brutality".
That police officer would have just rather been eating donuts in his squad car instead of having to chase down another troublemaking kid who have no father or even mother figure in his life.
You don't see cops having to chase down kids, of any color, who are in bed at an appropriate time and having learned right from wrong

I know the kid was young, but that pic is how many years old?

That’s a big assumption that they actually knew he was out that early. Maybe he’s good at sneaking out.

Someone earlier in the thread posted that he hadn’t been home in a week.

Baby gang banger? Sad to see kids go down that path.

What video did you see? He had a gun in his hand as he was turning around. It would appear he did drop it at the time he was raising his hands, but you expect a cop, in the dark, knowing the kid had a gun to just wait and see what happens when they turn?
If so, go be a cop and see how you like it.

Yes. Exactly as the cop ordered.

anytime someone has a gun, a cop has the right to shoot them? is this your logic?

Go back and reread what I posted.

I did
and you literally stated in your post why it was a bad shoot
maybe you should go back and reread what you posted

Is your logic that it’s not only okay to run from cops while holding a gun, but that additionally it’s not a dangerous situation? That cops should not fear for their lives anytime they are chasing someone holding a gun?
Goodness, this idea that officers deal with someone holding a gun on a regular basis and should be calm, cool, and collected every time is ludicrous. I’d bet the avg officer in the USA deals with someone armed with a gun once or less a year. Maybe more somewhere like Chicago or NBR or NOLA, but some small town country officer maybe once every 5 years.

If they turn towards them gun in hand, yes. That’s sound logic

No I didn't, how did you get that?

No.

Cops probably fear for their lives in every unknown situation. They are human.

Where did I say any of this?
I do think, however, that the cop should allow the person that he is yelling orders to at least comply with those orders before shooting them.
I don't think that is an unreasonable standard.

You implied that the cop couldn't see clearly. That's breaking the #1 rule with guns.

You mean to say that in rural communities, where gun ownership is highest, an officer only interacts with an armed suspect every 5 years?

This is the most head in the clouds idiotic fricking thing I have ever heard. You are literally now saying even if a criminal points a gun at a cop the cop shouldn’t shoot.
The people that think this way are also the brain dead morons that say things like “he only had a knife” or “they could have just shot him in the leg”.....I guess they could run for national office on the Dem ticket!

Are you saying the more guns you own the more likely you are to commit a crime with a gun?
No, I’m stating that in a small town with lower crime an officer is less likely to run into an armed suspect.
ETA: additionally, there’s a huge difference between an armed suspect in a dangerous situation and a gun owner. In a rural community a lot of your traffic violations may have a hunting rifle or conceal carry gun on them. That doesn’t make it a dangerous situation. I’m speaking only in situations with a deadly weapon. No, I don’t think your avg cop runs into direct involvement in armed and dangerous suspects routinely.
