You are criticizing the grammar of the cops statement when the kid just committed attempted murder with a gun, ran from the police, then tried to dump the gun.

Well the kid is dead, so what do you expect him to learn from this?

Your grammar matters a shite ton when you have the authority to kill someone for failing to comply with it...

LEOs are trained to make life or death decisions in a blink of an eye. If they can’t, they shouldn’t be a cop.

Respectfully, you don’t know what you are taking about

A typical pistol standard:

quote:

[high] Ready 1 shot 1 target 7 yards 1 SEC

Now sprint 50 yards first. Then do it at night. And officer STILL got a shot on target sub 1 second from seeing the gun.

Slack is on fire tonight. Feels like a hurricane thread in which he feels he’s getting disrespected.

I’m not sure being quick on the trigger in this specific situation is all that commendable.

If he had the luxury of slow-mo replay then I would agree

I said I’m too smart to be a cop. I didn’t say I’d be good at it.

I think the most well trained combat soldiers still shoot the guy in this situation. I do agree a lot of our police don’t spend enough time training as they should. But this isn’t a situation where the cop just went trigger happy

I think an objective person would find the following reasonable:

The kid was scared and he was trying to conceal and discard the gun so he wouldn’t get caught with it.

The cop knows he has a gun. He sees him digging in his pockets for it and sees him pull it out and start turning.

No way the cop could know or see the kid stealthily tossed the gun behind the fence.

The cop had to shoot.

If he legit just tried to kill someone, I don't care about his murder by the cop. He was going to kill someone or multiple people if he wasn't taken out first. I know 13 is young but it's the younger thug MFers doing the craziest shite out there. When I was 13, I did stupid shite but I would have never even thought about killing someone. Because I knew it was wrong. Horrible. The worst thing you can do. It doesn't take a genius or a fully matured brain to know that.

Black cop, hispanic kid shot? Does not appear to be triggering factors for a large scale riot situation. We'll see.

Don’t run from police with a gun and you won’t get shot. Quit always blaming cops when you have shitheads like this putting officers lives in danger. Al you armchair cops have no idea how hard it is to make split second decisions like this knowing the assailant has a weapon. Shooting may not look good on replay but no way this cop should be charged. Suspension sure but he didn’t murder this kid.

Might as well board up and just leave it up - this is going to be another long summer of this bullshite. The do-nothings with no jobs will be out in the streets all summer long while celebs and athletes bail them out of jail and the politicians bury their heads in the sand.

Can’t read?

You are the one trying to dissect the cops sentence structure like it makes a difference to a 13 year old grammar school drop out

At this point I think it’s time to give everyday patrol cops rubber bullets and save the real ones for highly-trained specialists who only come when called upon.

Took two posts but I think we found the TD company line to avoid simply calling it what it is - this is a bad shoot.

Have you watched the video in real time and what experience do you have to say it was a bad shoot. Having been in similar situations I see nothing that says this was a bad shoot (identified the weapon, kid didn’t comply with lawful commands, kid ran, kid turned towards him with weapon.....all split second (watch the real time video) and cop is justified!

That depends on the ROE in the particular AO.

If the ROE is no fire until fired upon he would not have been shot

If the ROE was weopons free on combatants and the current combatant definition was a military-age male with a visually confirmed weapon he would have been shot before that

I think a Delta Force operative would still have lit this kid up. They aren’t going to let someone turn and face them with a gun
