Chicago Police source tells Fox:
‘Moral is really bad against the mayor right now. When she came out after the shooting she said she wanted to go after the person who put the gun in the hands of Toledo. Then all of a sudden she comes out today and throws department under the bus’

Chicago police source tells Fox:
‘So yea this was tragic all the way around but at the end of the day the officer had an 1/8 of one second to make a decision- the powers to be in this city talk s*** all day long but look at the violence involving juveniles here’

Chicago police source tells Fox:
‘It was good all around. When you slow it down, still shots make it look not so good. Kid has his hands up. Throwing gun and gets shot. It is a heavy burden to carry on an officer that gets involved in a shooting’

The cop didn’t say turn around with the gun

Show me your hands is basically his worst possible choice here.

Put your hands up is better. It doesn’t imply showing them to someone who is behind you.

Show me your hands is going to get a majority of people to turn around. You should try it tomorrow afternoon on the streets of New Orleans.

During my reading about all of this, I learned that there were over 700 murders and over 4,000 shooting victims in Chicago last year.

The fact that you don’t understand the idiocy of your arm chair quarterbacking combined with your statement that you are smarter than 95% of cops tells me that you are a skinny limp wristed pale pencil pusher that has never experienced an adrenaline rush with a weapon in your hand.

I’m far too intelligent to be a cop ...but whatever amount is the fault of cops, 95% is due to a lack of intelligence.

Found the problem. Smart guys like you aren't there to help the cops. Clearly you should be an officer if you want the problem gone.

You think your ability to do well on a standardized test is going to help you when the perp turns around with a gun in a dark alley way in a split second?

What makes you think that?

I said I’m too smart to be a cop. I didn’t say I’d be good at it.

Why many cops actually join, which is part of the problem.

Point out the specific thing that I’ve said where you disagree.

Is “show me your hands” not an objectively bad phrase to use in a situation where you’re behind a suspect who has a gun?

He literally hides the gun - throws it attempting to conceal it. He has gun, throws gun so the cop can’t see it, and turns towards cop with now empty hands. By concealing it he essentially tricked the cop who couldn’t have known in the blink of an eye that hand was raising without it. Tragic, but justified.

Half a second between holding gun and getting shot. Sad story. Good shoot.

Negative.

LEOs are trained to make life or death decisions in a blink of an eye. If they can’t, they shouldn’t be a cop.

I agree. The kid was clearly scared and trying not to get in trouble, which makes it even more heartbreaking. The accomplice will almost certainly get charged with felony murder, right?

Where are y’all getting he was being chased for an attempted murder? I’m not saying he wasn’t, I’m asking where that’s being reported.

Multiple reports have stated a gun was found near his person. Also, those reports stated he and the older dude that fled and was arrested had just shot somebody, the “shot detectors” picked it up had police there within a minute which resulted in the chase. I’d link but busy with the kids.

Respectfully disagree. They are certainly trained to react as best as possible - but as was said in this thread earlier - cops aren’t cyborgs. They are human.

You are criticizing the grammar of the cops statement when the kid just committed attempted murder with a gun, ran from the police, then tried to dump the gun.

if you don’t understand how insane that sounds I don’t know what to tell you
