Sitting out in the hot sun or cold while people in cars sit in comfort may not be their idea of fun. Using one of the few benefits a bike offers is only wise. Exactly how does that effect you? They get to their destination sooner.
And here is a perfect example of the entitled a-hole biker mentality. Why do you feel you deserve/are owed a "benefit" because you *choose* to ride a bike?

Illegal in louisiana, look it up...

So who is at fault if you're in a car and in the process of changing lanes a bike comes up pretty quick and he hits you or you hit him?
You don't have side view mirrors in your vehicle? You don't look at them while changing lanes?

what kind of dumbfrick line of thought is this?

But why?
Because are you going to accept 100% responsibility when something like this happens (or you hit a vehicle that is attempting to switch lanes)?

Then don’t use a bike if that’s such a concern.

If they lose control and hit my car or cause me to accidentally run them over then it would effect me.

Now he has to live with that.
How can he live with it if your stupid friend kilt him?

So you think because someone chooses to ride a bike, knowing they will be exposed to the uncomfortable elements, they should be allowed special provisions to "get to their destination sooner"?

Maybe cry about it a little harder and they'll take the laws off the books.
Why do you feel like your entitled to the front of the line because you drive a 4-wheeled vehicle?

When a vehicle is stationary and someone hits them from behind... which party is responsible for the accident?

So you think a bike rider should just sit in the elements so he doesn't get to his/her destination before you?

FIFY
I used to drive the 405 everyday for 2 years and every week I would see a lane splitter mangled on the road. And not just the bike mangled.

That isn't what happened in the gif you posted. If that IS what you saw, then your license should be revoked because of eye issues.

Take which laws off the books, exactly?

smug has major entitlement issues.

Because I was there first.
The real question is:
Why do you feel entitled to skip to the front of the line, from the back of the line, because you ride a 2-wheeled vehicle?
Another perfect example of the entitled a-hole biker. I've honestly never interacted with a someone who rides a bike that isn't an entitled a-hole.

Correct. Arizona recently passed a law allowing "lane- filtering", which is different than lane-splitting.
quote:
Joining the growing list of states that are passing motorcycle-friendly legislation is Arizona, whose Governor Doug Ducey just signed into law a bill that allows Arizona motorcyclists to lane filter. The bill was easily approved by Arizona’s House and Senate earlier this month, and as written, would allow motorcycles to pass another vehicle in the same lane going in the same direction, but only if the vehicle is stopped. There’s another pretty major caveat too: It’s only applicable to roadways with a speed limit of 45 mph or less, which would automatically rule out the maneuver on most highways.
