I'm watching the press conference held by a DA in Provo. He read text messages between the shooter & his boyfriend.
Just from the context, it doesn't sound like his boyfriend knew ahead of time. He was worried about his grandpa & dad recognizing the gun along with him having to explain what happened to it.
He said he was going to pick it up, but there was a cop car parked there.
He said he didn't leave any evidence except for the gun. He said if they find it , he's done.
His DNA is all over it, the towel and the screwdriver he left on the roof. Plus he confessed to his boyfriend a few times.

My husband was listening to the radio and said they announced that the shell casings weren't engraved, they were etched with their messages.

A lot of discussion by our PT folks and elsewhere that this reads quite contrived, as though pre orchestrated to give the boyfriend an out
I think that's quite plausible, albeit somewhat messy. I think it's likewise messy that the trans boyfriend whose family members claimed was a radical and was plugged into all these radical communities was left in the dark while the more strait laced BF undertook an assassination. Possible. But how likely?
