Fun fact: His first hit, "Uneasy Rider" was about a hippie getting the best of a bunch of rednecks.in a bar fight.
He did a remake in 1988 where he was a redneck fighting his way out of a gay bar.

I was at the ‘80 Bama @ UT game when CDB performed this song and Legend of Wooley Swamp at halftime. Absolutely rained like hell for awhile.

Love Charlie Daniels but dude went from singing about smoking pot to hanging drug dealers. Seems a bit disconnected from reality...
Also made fun or the John Birch society in one song to become a mainstay hero of modern day John Birchers....

Who saw them in City Park in '77 in the Marshall Tucker's Southern Salute?

I said Jim don't do it there's something missing
There's fellers dancing and fellers kissing
There's a feller in high heeled shoes wearing panty hose

The Legend of Wooley Swamp is CDB's best tune in my opinion. I remember hearing it as a kid and the hair on the back of my neck standing up when he told us about Lucias Clay.

Saw Charlie Daniels in college, early 2000s. He was old then, but still performed a hell of a show.
One of my absolutely favorite artists across all genres. Most know him for the fiddling in songs like Devil Went Down to Georgia, but he was also a pretty darn good guitar player, and I liked how he did the story-telling in alot of his songs.

Took half the cops in Dallas County…. To put one Coonass boy in jail… So call up a Trudy on the telephone….
God I love this song
I wish Marcus King would cover Trudy
