Watching that made me sick to my stomach. Has to be a better way to light that.

Always tied off, safety first. Not sure what would happen if you passed out, how would they get you down.

I used to do work similar to this, but never on this scale. The highest tower I was on was only about 250 feet in the air.

My worst experience was changing bulbs and ballasts out on a light pole, and a sudden storm came up. No quick exit, and so I had to ride it out for a while, and the pole was about 200 feet in the air, and with the wind blowing, it would sway as much as 10 feet in either direction. Was a pretty helpless feeling.

have a cousin that does this, he is an engineer and periodically goes up and measures the beams, etc. He says the hardest part is the tiredness in the legs. Said they lean back on the harness to rest the legs. once he went up about 600 feet without the type of harness to lean back in. Said he thought he was going to die from his legs hurting. Quote: "as for as the height, what does it matter after 40 feet, you are gonna die anyways". yeah right, nope.

Was the camera one of those little quad copter drones?

Seems like it could just change the bulb while it was up there..

They can already build things.

What was shown on that video was fine to me. No OSHA violations by the climber that I saw.

I'm willing to bet most people couldn't do this even if they weren't scared out of there mind. Imagine the fatigue of basically climbing a 1500' ladder.

These guys were fired when this video made it out there. Forgot the whole story, but the narrator was friends with them and put the video together. OSHA crushed them because of the climbing techniques.

There was nothing wrong with the climbing techniques that I could see.

This is the video you might be referring to, they free climb to the top, then tie off. I never heard they were fired.

Those dudes biceps are HUGE. I worked on a site that had a 150' tower crane and climbed to the top once. My arms were on fire. The crane operator had arms that would give hulk hogan a run for his money.

This article says it wasn't the climber, but the drone operator who got in trouble - with the FAA.
