I pull out of my work which is in a school zone a little after 4. It is a school zone from 3:15-4:15. I pull into the turning lane then merge into traffic and then get over into the right lane. Traffic is flying past me. Less than ten seconds a cop walks into the road and motions for me to pull into an empty lot. I have no idea why I am being pulled over. Cop comes up and tell me he is ticketing me for going 38 in a 25 mph school zone. I tell him I didn't know it was currently a school zone and did not see the lights flashing. He looks behind him and says "Oh, it must of just went off." When I looked at the ticket later I notice it says at 4:20 . The school zone ends at 4:15. Is he recording the time of the incident or the time of him writing the ticket? This is in Ga. Ticket is $300 by the way.

I mean technically his time suggests it wasn't an active school zone...

I'd argue it.

That's just the time when the ticket was issued, not when the alleged offense occurred.

So no, you're gonna have to pay up baw.

Ticket should be tossed, but you are going to have to go in and explain to the judge....just tell the judge it was 4:20, don’t give the time you “left.”

I’m assuming it’s probably a $200 fine since school zone? Judges hate school zone speeders tho...

Based on your description of the facts I'd sure fight paying the ticket.

If you challenge it, you are likely to be offered a deal to attend traffic school in exchange for having it dismissed.

Otherwise, I would estimate your odds of winning the case at about 40% assuming your case is presented well by someone that knows what they are doing.

If it were me, I'd show up to court and use that as an argument.

If you pulled out of your parking lot "a little after 4" and your parking lot is in a school zone and the school zone doesn't end until 4:15 it sounds like you were speeding in a school zone and are just trying to be a worthless piece of shite and make up an excuse and blame someone else for why you were speeding in a school zone.

Time that ticket was completed wouldn’t equate to time crime was committed. Don’t think the cops can write them up real time baw.

Plus there is always a chance he doesn't show up and he'll get off.

No, actually it sounds like he is a guy who knows why he got a ticket and noticed a technicality that may allow him to get out of paying $300. He's asking if it is worth pursuing in court or not.

I say he should go to the judge and try. The ticket says 4:20 and that is that. If the cop doesn't show up then the judge will probably toss it or offer a much better deal, at least.

What is the normal non school zone speed limit?

Also, if your employer is located near a school zone, you should know it's there given your employment.

The judge, esp at the lowest level, will side with the police officer... Every... Single... Time.

Ready to appeal that decision?
