Not really

There are more than a couple elite MBAs that will get you looks anywhere you'd like to go globally.

Well, in finance, my dream jobs are , management consulting (particularly M&A consulting though I have a bit of consulting experience in some other areas), venture capital (not that that's realistic) and strategic initiatives/project management. I figure the MBA would be better for the project management stuff and the CFA would be better for financial acumen

You should learn more about those jobs and the CFA. CFA is obviously a valuable cert, but not really applicable to those fields. Money board will offer you better advice.

The best MBA program you can get into would serve you best.

Who do you work for and do you serve strategic clients or financial sponsors (private equity)? What kind of diligence do you provide? Are you on the buy side or sell side?

But you said get a top 25 MBA. Not a few elite MBAs. No one in Texas gives AF about a Emory MBA. Or Vandy.

That’s laughable.

An MBA from either of those schools is highly respected in Houston/Dallas.

Yeah, asset management is a major area for job opportunities here. Several of the larger groups have main asset management offices nearby and I've. been in a few of them and they're ridiculously nice.

You can get into major M&A or management consulting with a Michigan, UT, Duke, UNC, UVA, etc MBA. You might not waltz into a Goldman NYC IB or MBB strat consulting gig with one, but your options will assuredly not be insignificant.

Obviously it depends on the industry but in general MBAs from those two schools are respected in most major US cities.

I know several vandy MBAs who are ibankers here in Houston.

There is no data to back your claim. You are better served to research the major alumni groups for your area, and utilize those universities.

Nothing is free. Of course free school comes with strings attached. Same as relocation benefits. The only reason I'm doing MBA next year is because they are paying for it. I figure if they'll pay it's gonna help me.

Lmao. Whatever you say

You won't be able to land a San Fran TMT banking job with a UT MBA, but you sure as frick can find M&A work outside of Houston/Dallas with a UT MBA.

nobody with a brain would scoff at a Vandy MBA. Yeah, I'd rather have a Rice or UT MBA if I was in Houston, but a Vandy MBA is easily good enough to land a gig.
