If you had to choose which to go for, which one would you choose.

Could probably be sponsored or each. Obviously the MBA is more expensive and a pretty big time commitment. Probably wouldn't be sponsored to go to
the best school around but they do pay for some decent schools. I obviously would have to go part time.

Meanwhile, MBAs are a dime a dozen and the CFA is more focused and might pave the way for some more specialized opportunities.

Would do the PMP if I could but I don't have near the hours for that.

depends on what you want to do with it

I did engineering in undergrad and got my MBA because I thought it would make me more versatile.

Being smart and being good at stuff is more important than getting the CFA or MBA.

You need to provide more details on what you do or what you want to do.

Unfortunately, OP doesn't want to be paid for work, he wants to be paid based on how smart he can trick employers into thinking he is.

I agree and I wouldn't get either if possible because I do think most business is instinct, adaptability, and communication. But in today's world, a lot of places won't look at you if you don't have those requirements unless you have a decade or more of experience

I'd do whatever my employer is willing to pay for.

Alot of that shite is recoverable, and re-imbursement based so you have to come out of pocket for it as you go.

That's so they don't train you up and then you leave them for a better job.

You have to be smart how you handle that.

both.

if you can do CFA L2, you can do whatever you want

ETA: if your MBA isnt from a named school, don't even bother. just work your arse off for CFA and get that.

Well, in finance, my dream jobs are , management consulting (particularly M&A consulting though I have a bit of consulting experience in some other areas), venture capital (not that that's realistic) and strategic initiatives/project management.

I figure the MBA would be better for the project management stuff and the CFA would be better for financial acumen

Get a top 25 MBA; a CFA isn't doing to do much to open those doors.

Unless it is Stanford or Harvard, it is better to look for regional schools.

You don’t need a CFA for this at all. CFA is primarily geared towards asset management.
