I Darthed you b/c I got banned for a similar thing, but didn't actually do what I was banned for

And the first paragraph of what I wrote. I'd be willing to bet money that he didn't know the lion was famous, so now you're the one sensationalizing the story
How am I sensationalizing the story? The lion apparently is famous, I didn't say anything about the dude appreciating that. He obviously saw he was collared, though.
But sure, take that out of it. If you shoot an awesome and apparently healthy lion and pay a bunch of money to do it so you can take a picture and cut off his head for your wall, you're a fricking toolbag until proven otherwise.
It's a generalization, but I'm going with my hunch here.

the bad part is that all of this negative attention and drama is decreasing the price of the permits/tags, which is hurting conservation. it's the classic case of too many people relying on emotional-irrational guidelines to shift their thinking instead of logical-rational analysis. "the feels" are literally, indirectly allowing animals to get poached and populations to be destroyed.
Down votes aside, my first post in this thread is spot on whether people want to admit it or not

You sound heated, maybe you should take a break. Natural selection is survival of the fittest and that lion proved he was the fittest via his large lion pride. That's a fact. When rich human being comes in with a weapon, well Mr lion is a goner which allows a weaker bloodline to inherit his pride because the strong lion was taken out by something other than another lion. Get it?

Not really. I agree if you mean not living in the jungle, but most people I know who are in love with nature get out there a fair bit.

Survival of the fittest can only happen within a species now? No outside factors? I learned something new today.

You obviously don't People are part of the environment too We were smart enough to invent guns and bows and arrows, which makes us the fittest. Lion got killed by a superior species.

So you're suggesting that pussy arse bitch lion scares away dominant male lion? It's my understanding that a male lion is not a hit it and quit type, but will stay with the pride until he is defeated by a stronger male(s).

bullshite. I don't eat endangered and majestic animals. I also don't eat an animal when the consequences are of an entire pride likely being destroyed because of it. I eat animals that are bred for that purpose or can become overpopulated. Lions certainly aren't among them.

Sure it can. The USA could also nuke an entire nation to death. Why send something to extinction just because you can?

If he turned the guide in then he should get some measure of leniency. That said, he is the one that killed the animal and with that privilege comes the responsibility of knowing and obeying local laws and regulations surrounding the harvest.
I personally do not see the allure of these hunts, but if the local governments authorize them and there is sincere management/conservation effort it's probably a net positive for both the people and wildlife.

You may want to go back to a science class and learn about it.
