They are both words. One refers to mounted soldiers, the other to the hill where Jesus was crucified.

One has nothing to do with the other and common use is “Calvary” when it should be “cavalry” ...

Cavalry comes from cavalier, which comes from the French Chevalier, which comes from the French Cheval, for horse.

Had it misused twice today in conversation and have noticed it more and more.
