Anyone here ever receive one? Always see the sign but have not once heard of anyone receiving a ticket via plane on the causeway.

Because you said something, everyone will be getting a ticket shortly.

I haven't heard a peep about it in at least a few years. I seem to recall last hearing that they were discontinued due to budget reasons.

Didn't some motorcyclist get a ticket on the spillway for a speed his bike couldn't achieve?

This was years ago.

That would cost way too much to actually enforce

Had a friend that used to make the trek back and forth to Lafayette twice a week back in the late 1980's. He was aerial clocked doing 96 on the bridge and had a state trooper waiting for him when he arrived at the end of the bridge. FYI...not the Causeway though.

they don't always do "clocking" from above but if you get to Point A to Point B in x amount of time or less, they know you are speeding.

I think they did it for maybe a day when they first put the signs out.

It's not like Causeway Police really needs the help.

Exactly.....they use markers across the lanes.

I got one a couple of months ago, from an actual cop. But im pretty sure it was a drone or whatever that got me and the officer was waiting. I tend to check the crossovers and didn't pass one, which is why I think the guy that pulled me over was flagged from somewhere else.

Alabama used to have the white lines on the pavement and the helicopters hovering above. If you made it between the white lines too quickly, there was a patrolman to pull you over before the next exit.

ETA: as it must cost about $10k every time they take the choppers up, it can't be very cost effective.

Plus, all you have to do is slam on the brakes every time you come to a white line. Try again cops.

They put on safety harnesses and hide with laser guns by the little equipment sheds on the right hand side on the Southbound bridge

New Orleans has proven over and over again that cost effectiveness is not a factor in any decisions

They have cameras all over the bridge too. I don't know if they use them for speeding.

In WBR they like to pretend to be a survey crew.
