Yeh oceanic white tips are very aggressive and probably responsible for most of the Indianapolis victims. Definitely a Yiger based on size and bulls don’t get that big. Water temps too warm for a great white.

I did see a few years ago they had 3-4 attacks in a few days…pretty sure Egypt and one of the attackers was a mako the other a white tip. Pretty odd they were so close to the beach.

Watched it but wish I had not.

You can make out when he yells Papa as his father was on the shore. Just horrible. Not sure how anyone can think that is cool.

It’s a sand tiger. They look fierce but are relatively docile believe it or not

Man, I didn’t even watch the video but have read this entire thread today while hanging out at Tunnels Beach in Kauai on vacation with my family. We have snorkeled at Tunnels, Pali Ke Kua Beach, Annini, and swam in the surf at the west end of Lumahai where the river and ocean meet. We have vacationed here since 2003 and snorkel and swim at least 3/4 of the 16 days we are here. I am kind of apprehensive now to let my family get back in the water over the next week. Some of those reefs have drops of 10-15 feet between them to the sandy bottoms once you are out about 60 yds from shore. I have never seen a shark on any trip while snorkeling but now I am a bit rattled.

He was a swimmer training for some triathlon. Near Sydney. Literally had lower half bitten off then the shark took the rest.

Mexico recorded the first fatal shark attack of the year back in January when a dive fisherman harvesting mollusks or clams was full on decapitated in one bite by a 19 foot Great White.

Tiger sharks are responsible for most attacks in Hawaii. I can’t say I wouldn’t be apprehensive but the odds are in your favor. Generally if it’s clear water and groups you’re safe.

Yeh that was crazy. Apparently large great whites had been sighted and shut down the abalone (I think that’s what they were fishing for) fishing but this guy decided it was worth the risk because he needed the money.

That’s why abalone are so damn expensive you have to harvest them by hand in cool shark infested water. Similar thing happened to a NZ abalone diver awhile back. Had his head and shoulders in the mouth of a great white, somehow he lived.

I looked it up again. It was axe tripe, a type of mollusk. The article I read said not many fisherman had been out for a while around that time because sharks were in the area and that was probably the worst time of year for them, pregnant females at that! That was the third or fourth fatal white shark attack in that area in a couple years.

I mean, I can make this happen, in rhyme at least

Just when you think this pitiful, perhaps pitiable man may have some redemption arc, he makes some awful comment and is hurled off a cliff into shark infested waters.

An awful fate awaits him I'm sure. But humorous in a way
