You would have a better understanding why if you knew the fate of Jacques De Molay at the hands of the Spanish Inquisition which was under control of Catholics.

It is correct that Masons and Catholics are incompatible choices. So is fornication, drunkenness, abortion, and a lot of other things.
Most Catholic are not catechized well enough to know that.

Carlo Gambino died with last rites from the church and a catholic funeral if that tells you anything.

What the frick does Jacques de Molay and Phillip IV have to do with the Spanish Inquisition?

Don’t ever go to a Mason’s funeral. They start babbling ceremonial bullshite and won’t ever shut up. I almost froze to death at a winter graveside service.

If he went to confession and was sorry for his sins, then he was forgiven and in good graces with the laws of the Catholic Church. If he had last rites, then he was absolved from all his sins. priests just do as they're told for the most part. Carlo & God had a pretty good conversation I'm sure.
Who are we to judge?

If the Catholic church has no problem with a president* who is in favor of killing babies, why should they care about people belonging to a fraternity?
