Catholic Craftsmen. I Need Your Help.

Long story short. Lady friend's niece is getting married to an Italian boy. Very sweet girl, Good dude. VERY CATHOLIC. So, for a wedding gift, I decided I would make them both rosaries (St Michael for him. St Thomas for her).
I work with metal and make jewelry for fun and profit. And this seemed like an easy and meaningful gift -- especially for a wedding.
I have all the wooden and semi precious stone beads (olive wood is what I plan on using with different stone Our Father beads for him and her), but the centerpiece medals are not necessarily dear but way overpriced for solid silver.
I wanted to cast my own, but I cannot find any molds for sale online. I have the silver and the means to melt and cast. Just cannot find molds. If I made my own (carved and cast the Saints images myself) is that against a rule? Are the images the Sisters of Carmel sell just their standard or is that the official Vatican version? If all the elements associated with a particular saint there, is that ok?
I have a year to get these done, so I'm not pressed, but I want these to be correct.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Why don’t you ask your parish priest to help you find out? If he doesn’t have the answer he should be able to find it.

Well, yeah, but that is a constant desire and need. Now if someone can make a good Nacatamal instead of basic Mexican tamales.
frick, now I want Chancho con Yucca.
I miss Chancho con Yucca so much.

Design them in fusion 360, find someone you know with a resin printer to print them then make your own molds.
That or send the STL file to someone and have them cast.
I designed my wife some jewelry during covid.

ChatGPT says,

The short answer is:
No, a Catholic is generally not required to use an "official Vatican-approved" image of a saint on a rosary. A craftsman can design and cast his own saint medals, crucifixes, and centerpieces as long as they respectfully depict the saint and do not contain doctrinal errors.
A few points:
Is there an official Vatican version?
Not usually.
The Catholic Church generally does not maintain a single official image for most saints. Throughout history, saints have been depicted in many different artistic styles and cultures.
For example, Saint Francis of Assisi has been portrayed by hundreds of artists over centuries. The common identifying symbols (animals, birds, brown habit, stigmata, etc.) help people recognize him, but there is no single required image.
Likewise, Saint Patrick might be shown with a shamrock, bishop's vestments, or snakes, depending on the artist.
What about rosary centerpieces and medals?
Most commercial rosary parts are simply produced by manufacturers. A company such as Sisters of Carmel or another supplier is generally selling a design they chose to use, not "the Vatican's official version."
The Church blesses rosaries, but it does not normally dictate the exact artwork on every medal.
Could you carve and cast your own?
Absolutely.
Historically, many Catholic artisans, monks, nuns, goldsmiths, and woodworkers created their own religious art.
The important considerations would be:
The depiction should be reverent.
The saint should be identifiable.
The symbolism should not contradict Catholic teaching.
Any inscriptions should be accurate.
Any restrictions at all?
The main area where approval sometimes matters is when something claims a special spiritual status, such as:
an officially approved apparition image,
certain sacramentals with specific promises attached,
official diocesan or Vatican seals.
For ordinary saint medals on a rosary, there is generally considerable artistic freedom.
If the rosary is blessed later
A priest can bless a rosary regardless of whether the medals were commercially purchased or handcrafted, provided the item is suitable as a devotional object.
So if this gentleman carves a medal of Saint Michael the Archangel or Saint Benedict from scratch and casts it in silver, that would ordinarily be viewed as a work of religious craftsmanship, not a violation of Church rules.
The one exception I'd mention is the Saint Benedict medal specifically. That medal traditionally contains particular letters and inscriptions associated with its blessing and symbolism. An artistic rendering of St. Benedict is fine, but if you're trying to make an actual "St. Benedict Medal," you'd want the traditional inscriptions to be correct.
So my answer would be: Yes, you can create your own saint images and cast your own rosary components. There is generally no requirement to use a Vatican-approved mold or the exact artwork sold by a particular supplier.

I could definitely be wrong, but I don't believe there is any official Church guidance on creating your own images/medals. I wouldn't imagine it would be any different than someone painting an image of Jesus or the Blessed Mother or any Saint. There a billion different versions of those images so I don't think casting your own medals for the rosaries (which is awesome btw) would be any different. Good luck to you!

No rules about official catholic tools. However, I would get them blessed by the priest that is marrying them

Catholic here…IMO the good thing about our faith is yes, we do take a lot of things seriously…but we also realize we’re all human, just like God does. What you’re doing is a very humble & awesome deed. I think you’re fine moving forward with creating your own, then just take it to a priest and have it blessed.
Keep in mind that in all of our amazingly beautiful churches in the world, there are statues, paintings, and mosaics that were created with no material assistance other than the vision that God gave the artist.

I was told that be no Religion on this exam.
P.S. Unless you are some famous and well-known artisan, they. would probably much prefer that you just get them something off of their wedding registry. When they get your gift, I can almost assure you that their response will be, “Oh.......yeah......Uhmmmm thanks?"

Not against any rule. I typically use the standard miraculous medal when I build rosaries, but you can use any centerpiece you like. They even make some with the Pope's face on them (Francis at least, maybe the Leo ones aren't in production yet)
Remember that rosary beads are beautiful, but ultimately they're just a tool. We aren't praying "to" the beads, we're just using them to keep track of where we are in our meditation. That's why you can use whatever materials or medals you want
