There are a few chasers who went to Jamaica to document this one. Some decided not to, and it is clearly understandable why.

Josh Morgerman (iCyclone) made the trip. He also experienced Dorian in the Bahamas, and was one of the only chasers there for it. The aftermath of this one could get dangerous.

The natives there could go tribal real fast when this gets bad, particularly the shittier east side of island

I wouldn't want to be an American stuck there

Intensification is back on with recon finding 947mb in the eye, down 6mb since the 11am advisory. It may well reach Cat. 5 today.

it's truly a beautiful island, but it's a total shithole. Went to montego bay on a cruise, and we got back on the ship. never felt more unsafe in my life.

I wouldn't like it. I wish those who went there well. Josh may be the most experienced in the world with dealing with that type situation. I'd still have pause even if I were him.

There's nothing to worry about here. Our beloved leader will be on top of the recovery efforts after the storm rolls through.

Was fairly surprised that it’s turning like that.

Both the 12z HAFS A & B get this down to 910 tomorrow. This has really turned out badly for Jamaica. At one point, it looked like Melissa would get far enough SW of Jamaica to miss it on the turn NE. However, that didn't work out.

That's around an 8mb drop since the 11am advisory.

I'm interested to see what impact eventual upwelling of cooler water under Melissa has. It isn't very often we see a storm this strong moving this slowly. It is over really warm water, but that will diminish the longer it sits/slower it moves.
