Looks like the northward turn is slowly beginning.
And the latest hurricane models are out.
Pressure and winds at or just before landfall:
HWRF - 920 mb and 145 mph
HMON - 909 mb and 160 mph
HAFS-A - 907 mb and 185 mph
HAFS-B - 901 mb and 165 mph
Average 909 mb and 164 mph

So is ‘monster’ a scientific term for researchers at CIRA at Colorado State?
What are the exact specifications for ‘monster’?
The only thing these ‘experts’ want is clicks and money.

I think a storm with 175mph winds should be classified as a "monster".

Sandals South Coast Overwater Bungalows - odds of surviving Melissa?
18 miles west of current projected path. With a 12 mile wide eye, that would put this place 12 miles west of the western eyewall.
At least it will be an offshore wind out of the NE

I don't know that there is such a thing as "offshore wind" for that joint.

Well, we HAD two recon planes crisscrossing through the storm.
Now, we have one.
Melissa put the hurting on the NOAA plane with "extreme turbulence" the likes of which have only been seen once in the last ten years.
No visible structural damage but they fear some instrument and sensor damage.
The NOAA plane is being sent to Lakeland, FL for inspection.

Me too, brother, me too.
I can't believe they're pumping up this little pissy arse Fall thunderstorm like this.

I saw they had been flying out of Curacao. They are obviously using the airport runways and fuel supply and probably don't have much maintenance/repair capability there.
