Cars that beep when your lights are on and don't just turn them ofd

I just don't get it, I had a 1998 Tundra that had the technology to automatically turn my lights off when I turned the truck off but this 2016 Sentra I rented just beeps loudly at me.
If they can make it beep why not just have it cut the lights off?

Is ofd an option now a days?

Because what if you want to keep the lights on for whatever reason?
The technology element I expect to see more is a beep and automatic turnoff once the battery reaches certain depletion levels.

No doubt
I noticed it in my MIL's car as well, I'm just curious as to why they would seem to go backwards in technology on this little thing

I don't understand how any new vehicle sold today doesn't have automatic headlights. Chevy Trucks had auto headlights 25 years ago. So So many people drive around in the heavy rain with their headlights off.
Burns my arse.

I remember when drivers were smart enough to turn the lights on when getting dark or raining.

I guess maybe because they can add a little to the vehicle price when it only costs them a couple bucks. I know on my truck I would've needed to upgrade to the "premium tech" or some BS package like that to get automatic headlights.

I've seen vehicles with daytime running lights. It's not hard to do.

Then turn the car on. If the lights start to dim, then crank it up for a little while.

If the Sentra is equipped with the Autolight system, you must set the headlights control to the AUTO position (not the plain old ON position) to make headlights go off when you kill the car.
It sounds like you go full auto or full manual. The choice is yours.

Sounds like a $1600 special feature.

This. I had a 98 Olds Intrigue that had auto lights, now we have a 2012 Honda that doesn't.

I literally wouldn't buy a vehicle that didn't have auto lights.
Had a rental corolla in California with a dead battery because of this. So dumb.

i got a 2015 bmw 6 series that i literally never drive
about... it was the night alabama played clemson this year, i've had too much crown green apple and some skate and i drove the car to the local sports bar as i didn't want to have to answer all my GF's football questions in the game
and like, it's one of those cars like, you can't just cut the lights off you know the lights automatically go off
so i pull in the drive way and i get out the car and hte lights won't go off so i get back in the car , then cut the car back off then get back out the car and look at hte car and the lights won't go off, like for some reason i'm petrified of my battery dying nevermind i have one of those jumper things in the trunk i'm tweaking my arse off lol, so i do trhis shite for like an hour. so i call my pregnant GF out and tell her that my car is broke lol. she's crying laughing at me and just takes me in =side the house and i'm fighting her the whole time cause i don't want the battery in my car to die.
i hate cars that have lights that don't go off when you cut the car off which is pretty much any car lol

My 2001 blazer had daylight running lamps and I could manually turn them off by pressing the dome override twice.
Technology is going backwards.
I'm sure the new vehicles you can adjust your seat via Bluetooth though

My truck has both options, If I had to choose though I would take non auto headlights.
