While I'm growing more and more disdain for the city I live in because of things like this (and the political environment that sustains it), that's a silly and hyperbolic statement.
Many cities in the U.S. have similar issues with crime.

The most dysfunctional aspects of LA and MS revolve around poverty and violent crime in the urban areas. It's not just NO, it's BR, Shreveport, Lafayette, Jackson, etc.
Let me break it to you gently, it's not rednecks out there running around carjacking, mugging, and murdering people at third world rates.

Nothing I said in my statement indicates that other American cities don't have this exact same problem. Where's the hyperbole? I find nothing hyperbolic about recognizing that the level of murder and violent crime in cities like New Orleans is embarrassing and pathetic and has no place in a first world nation. There is NO excuse.
