Born and Raised in Tupelo.. City did not care about this museum.. rumor is the city wanting the building back so they kinda forced them out of town.. City did not help the Museum get the word out about being in Town.. If not about Elvis , Fairpark or the Mayor the city don't care.. What is said cause of that museum the bandit run use stop in town ever year now it will not.

The Spain family started the museum because they already owned all those cars and needed a place to store them. The museum did bring in different cars about every 3 months like corvettes, camaros, firebirds, trucks, etc. but the cars in the auction were always on display.
Mr. Spain was loaded and made his money as pioneer/inventor when TV was getting started. He built a system to transmit TV signal from Memphis to Tupelo which is what we now know as cable tv. He owned multiple TV stations when he died in 2006.

I'm going down to see the museum this weekend. It's a real treasure for car fans and it's a shame that the collection is being sold off. If the auction is open to the public I wouldn't mind seeing that. Oh since I live in Nashville now I need to go back to Lane sometime.

That isn't quite true. They started the museum because Frank died. Jane never really cared much about the cars. The rest of your post is pretty spot on. Frank Spain did an amazing job pioneering the microwave signal for broadcasting.

It doesn't run. Frank's chief engineer(for both the TV station and his cars) tried to tinker with the car and completely trashed the wiring.
Dodge told them politely to go off themselves when they tried to get them to fix it.

The museum opened in 2002 and Frank died in 2006.
