Why would you buy a brand new car for your daughter who’s graduating college and is about to have a decent paycheck/career?

I’ve heard of buying a vehicle for kids graduating high school because they don’t have immediately paychecks but a 22 year old college graduate going into the workforce?

Why do you care how others spend their money? It is nice to do things for others and feels good.

Police Report and have them work with chikfila, there's a slim chance they could have the person's name from the order or pics of the driver if they went inside. This is why us with decent possessions carry insurance, it's to help us in cases where trash ruins our stuff

My car got hit while parked on a street and I have to go to the station to fill out a report for insurance, they wouldn't even come to me.

You really think they're going to launch a full investigation over a fender bender that no one has any information on?

Nobody will pay for it but your insurance (meaning you). Lafayette PD isn’t going to catch the suspect. Accept it is part of living in society full of pieces of shite and move on.

She drove a 2004 Buick Lesabre in HS and College. She has done her "beater car driving".

I am also glad she is safe. I carry a $2000 deductible for collision and UM. Maybe you have $2000 to pay for someone that creates a crime, I don't.

This. Don’t waste your time trying to “make the other guy pay”. They are probably broke. This situation is the exact reason why you carry insurance.

I am more interested in pursuing justice than money. I am not excited about paying $1500 or so to fix the car but I really want the ahole to face fines/penalties.

What is right is right.

I hope those that jump immediately to filing an insurance claim aren't the same ones bitching about renewal rates. We all pay and there is a reason LA has high arse insurance rates.

Did you even read what I wrote? You can’t squeeze blood from a turnip.

If you had adequate insurance, you wouldn’t be on the hook for $1500. Which really shouldn’t be your issue anyway since it’s not your car, it’s your adult daughter’s.

Well we do have the first two letters on the vehicle plates and know the make and model of the vehicle. I cant imagine (even in Texas) a license that starts with KM on a silver/gray Tahoe is a hard to find. Especially one with red paint on the rear bumper and in La at the time of the accident. Chick Fila has video of the accident.

I did read it. It shouldn't be my problem. That is true. I am just trying to help because this isn't a typical accident thing.

I carry high collision deductibles because I am not the guy that turns in claims for smaller losses. I have the money. The damage is annoying financially but the heart of the matter is finding the guy for justice purposes. I will gladly pay the repairs if we can get this guy.

LOL. So you carry $2000 deductible when you don’t have $2000 to pay. I was right. You are not properly insured.

You have no business buying adults automobiles if you don’t have a $2000 emergency fund.

Maybe because he cares and loves his daughter and knows how hard it is to graduate from college. Give her a reward for her hard work and dedication.

The nerve.

If he's fine with it, what's the problem?

After my birthday dinner years ago, someone hit my Dad in the parking lot when he went out to get the car to pick my Mother and I up from the front door. He even got the license plate. Hit and run. The police wouldn't do crap because they said it happened in a parking lot on private property. Pissed all of us off.

My sister (no pics) got the rear driver door of her car hit recently by a guy that was backing out of the parking spot next to her car. He backed up and cut the turn to sharp and scraped her door. (I say 'scraped' but it was enough damage to wear the door wouldn't close properly) Similar to the OP, the restaurant had security video of it happening and it was a company van he was in. That's the only way it was recognizable to those that weren't there.

The cook ran out and got in his/her car and followed him while the cops were called by another patron who was walking to their car after eating and also saw it happen.

They found the guy and the company he worked for paid for her repairs (I should say the company's insurance paid for that).

But it easily could've been just like what happened to the OP. I saw the video and the dude hit her while backing out, put it in drive and drove off like nothing happened.
