It’s a huge problem in Houston. The problem is that if they’re caught (rare), the prosecutors often give them no bail and they back out on the street with a promise to show back up for court.
This.
And there has always been car break-ins around here, but in the last few months there has been hundreds of instances of car windows being broken all over the metro area including Metairie and the northshore.
Hell, they even hit several cars at Brother Martin High School last week. The hoodlums waited until the security guards made their routine pass and then they hit 4 or 5 cars within a few minutes and left.

Restorative justice. They’re putting a new low income, gov subsidized complex in the middle of Shady Acres/ Heights to lower the criminal commute to our neighborhood.
Yeah, but just think how good you'll feel inside to know that you live in an economically diverse neighborhood.

It was a huge shite fight on the neighborhood FB group. The sympathizers claimed everyone deserves a chance at a better life in a nicer neighborhood.

Iran has the right idea on what to do with thieves.

Houston has a shite load of auto thefts too. It doesn't seem they recover a lot of them either. Most are probably cruising around in Mexico right now.
Or it's found ragged out in south or east Houston. If you're lucky they ditch it in a bayou. You don't want the car back after a couple days of joy riding/ stripping it for parts. Swiping the wheels off of cars seem to be super popular here too.

You know, I used to think that people like that would come around once the predictable negative effects start happening to them personally, but I've come to realize that the ideology is so entrenched in their brains that no amount of negative feedback will ever change their vision of the world. They'll simply move to another area and avoid addressing the problem.

They do deserve A CHANCE and that chance is living in America where anyone can be anything. What they don't deserve is a guaranteed outcome paid for by the government with my tax dollars. I don't understand why people can't accept that premise.
You want help attending a trade school? I will fricking pay taxes to help someone in need with that. You need temporary assistance due to a natural disaster, fire or unforseen emergency? Yep.
You want lifelong government checks so you don't have to work and can pump out kids. frick you. Get a job or starve motherfricker.

Correct.
For cops, it is regarded as a victmless crime and they know the judges just turn 'em loose so...
Just the price you pay for having a job and a car.

I saw someone mention the break ins in Mandeville / Northshore. I talked to the Police there and it wasn't the typical ghetto kids. They know because they caught the group doing it over in Slidell and they still had the stuff from the Mandeville break ins.
It was a group of "Gypsies" (their word) from FL area that flew into MSY and rented cars. They hit spots on the Northshore but were also expected to have gone as far as Houston along the I-10 corridor.
This is organized crime shite. They hit health clubs, churches and other places where women would leave purses in cars. They were looking for ID, credit cards, check books, identity theft materials. By the time they were caught in Slidell, the identities of the women hit in Mandeville earlier in the week were already being used to make purchases and get credit cards online.
The kicker? Judge gave them all bond the next day and they are gone.
