I'm looking to spend around 400 for everything.

Then unfortunately you are going to be very limited on what you can do due to the factory preset curve.
Go with the following:
Image dynamic 2 way components
Zapco 170w rms amp
Zapco line out sweep
Amp install kit
This will prolly be the best you can do on that budget. Realize though if there is a factory amp under your passenger seat you are going to have a lot of rewriting to do to use the factory speaker wiring. Let me know if that's the case and when you get ready to install and I will get you the schematic for the factory wiring.

Yeah luckily I don't have factory amp. I'm non JBL

Shouldn't be bad then. The stuff I linked is good quality and from very reputable brands so you should be good with those. You can get some rear fill later on if you want.

Dunno why it auto corrected to sweep. It is a line out converter. Also will digitally fix the factory roll off. Essentially same thing as the recurve. Jbl ms8 would be best but it would blow your budget and it's only available used.

What's the difference between that and the 10 dollar line out converters?

Reason I ask is because I could add a sub if I get a cheaper LOC

. I'm not looking for super audiophile quality.
If you are just looking for a nice upgrade and nothing extravagant, just upgrade your speakers to some nice coaxials or a component set, get an 8" sub and box made for your truck, and a 3 channel amp to power it all. If youd like, you could also upgrade the rear speakers and run them off the head unit. You might not HAVE to upgrade your head unit bc you might have the same one tht comes with the JBL system. Youd need to check on that though.
if you go to Woofers ETC they have jpretty any brand you could want and are typically alot cheaper than crutchfield. Ive always been a fan of JL subs and I really like their amps as well. For your mids or components, Ive always been a fan of Focal, Diamond Audio, MB Quart and Boston Acoustics. Its really just a matter of how much you want to spend.
As far as investment, how long do you plan to keep the truck? If not long I woukdnt sink alot of money into the coaxials/components as youll never get that back when you sell the truck.

Difference is a normal line out converter will not even attempt to fix the factory curve coming off the factory head unit. That is your biggest obstacle to having anything half way decent.
And on a 400 dollar budget you are not gonna have enough to add a sub imo. That's another 100min for amp and 100 or so for any decent sub and that is low balling. Add the sub later. With that zapco line out converter you can add the sub at any time once you get more money.
Sorry cause I know it's no what you wanna hear.

When you say the factory curve, do you mean the bass roll off? If that's the case, wouldn't an amp and more sensitive speakers make me turn up the volume less?

Also, is there a place in baton rouge I can listen to some of this stuff? I'm worried about harsh tweeters.

I actually have an 8" in a truck box for behind the seat. Was planning on putting it in my grandparent's party barge because it came with an amp and marine speakers. I couldn't even tell you what brand the speaker is but if you think you might be interested I can check.

That sub is a waste of money, won't even notice it in a truck your size.
Factory curve is where as you increase volume, the head unit auto adjust bass and mids to not damage the factory speakers. Sure you can go with a cheap line driver and it will be louder but will sound like shite still.
Those image dynamics speakers can be found locally in br. Go to their website and search dealers in Br, but those tweeters are not harsh at all.
And frick you, I'm in the middle of a squat session and you are over here giving me shite. If anybody here you should know what that's like.
