Car A/C question for the OT mechanics

I have a 03 Dodge Ram. The A/C is not some kind of duel climate control or anything.
The driver's side air blows cold air. The passenger side air blows warm (or outside temp) air.
How is this possible and how do I fix it?
I even closed off the driver's side air but the passenger side still blew warm.

My dad had this issue. Google it. It’s a well known Dodge issue. There are vent doors that open and shut and yours’ are broken. Gotta take the whole dash apart to get to it. Part is pretty cheap but the labor to pay someone is like 5-6 hours I think.

That makes sense.

There are little doors in the HVAC ducts way up in the guts of your dash that open and close to send air to the different vents, mix cold air with fresh or recirc air, etc. This is how the defrost setting sends air to the windshield vents only and how you can dial in the temperature. These little doors or their motors get stuck/burn out sometimes. Something very close to that is likely what happened here.
I had one of them stuck in my last car. The door and its motor was something like $25. The labor to rip the dashboard open to get to the door and its motor and then put the dashboard back together was over $1000. Luckily, it was still under warranty and I sold it after it got fixed. Good luck.

Either the door mechanism is broken or the actuator that moves the doors needs to be replaced. But, either way BALDONA is right, cheap parts and lots of labor to get to it.

After a little on line research, I found a website for Mopar guys.
Quite a few people had this problem and come to find out, if the system gets low on Freon, it will shut down the passenger side and only blow cold air on the driver's side.
I was getting ready to start cracking into the dash to replace A/C passenger mode drive.
I charged the system (it was low, about 25 lbs, 30lbs is low) and it works prefect!!!

I said that wrong, I have a 05 Dodge, not 03. It only has 120K miles on it and it has never let me down for maintenance. I probably have less than $1000 in repairs in it, and nothing over $300 at one time (fuel pump).
But I do 80% of my own repairs.
