In the digital age your entire sense of wealth is but numbers in a computer. If shite really hits the fan ie cyber attack or grid collapse we are all screwed as all we are left with are our tangible assets.

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also

This morning I withdrew 1100.00 cash for three employees as a stopgap because I value them.plus they were not irresponsible. They are running out of money
Those credit cards aren’t going to pay off themselves.

I got your sentiment because I had the same ironic laughing this morning as well after I took out cash to help some of my people. I thought" Technology! We're all fricked....."

This is why I don't like Bitcoin and other cyber currencies.

Sorry not aiming at you: I guess all we can do is wait. It was a general statement.

Who knew so many OT ballers were living paycheck to paycheck?

I have secondary accounts with CapOne. I don’t readily need the deposits but also just received text that my debit card has been fraudulently used.

Last warning to everyone, use local or regional banks or credit unions.
No - I bank primarily through Chase but also have an auto loan through a local credit union. (In b4 not paying cash is trashy)
Anyways, I have to fight every couple of months with the CU because they are antiquated and do not accept online bill payments. In the process of me hand delivering the payment book slip and a check, they misappropriate the funds into the dummy checking account I had to set up with the loan, and then a week or so later I get a message stating the bill is late. From their mistake.
Modernity and technology is not the enemy. Poorly ran companies are.

What's maddening is that FIS Global has not hauled out its CEO to explain what is going on. This is not a power surge issue at a regional data center issue, at least not overall

Technology. Is great but the risks are always out there. Sadly.

I was supposed to get paid Wednesday and still hasn’t hit yet.

[embed]Do you think Morgan City Savings Loan and Feed Store uses some magical in house developed clearance process? No, they use the same top 5 or 10 third parties that everyone else uses.[/embed]
Not true.
Plenty of "smaller" banks employ security experts that have years of experience with all of these issues. And there is usually half a dozen or so directly employed by these banks at all times. This is done in BR, NO and the Northshore.
And the track record of security success within these smaller banks is pretty strong.

you may think its nice to walk into Podunk Fed and Mr Chuck gives you a loan, but they're probably way behind on their security updates and IT is someones nephew who has another job
I can confirm this. I used to have a fairly successful MSP. We walked into a successful FCU at their behest after some issues so we could assess and give them a price. We walked right on out. We refused service due to liability concerns around their security posture. To say it was poor would be an understatement, Stephen Hawking had better posture at the time.

Sorry, but putting yourself into a position where you cannot miss one paycheck is the definition of being irresponsible.

I think it’s a malware ransom attack. But hopefully not.

You're mixing conversations, I didn't get involved with the security patch thread. But yeah, I've seen the job listings for the smaller banks and what they pay. Good luck with the security "expert" that has two years of experience resetting passwords at ULL for those wages.

Some deposits are beginning to go through, per one of my employees.
