Then she doesn't like anyone. I am the second owner, I found her 3 years ago running around. She may not like me, but, I still don't want her to get run over or hurt.

Use dog poop! Place some of his own poop in the hole. For some reason, dogs will not dig where they have pooped. Be sure to use fresh poop.

Lay chicken wire over the hole.

Blow up balloons, put them in the holes then cover them back up with dirt. When the dog digs one up, POP! Hopefully this stops the digging once and for all

Sprinkle Cayenne pepper or chili powder in the spots where your dogs likes to dig. Then when he/she tries to dig/sniff it gets a big nose full of it, very discouraging!

She never barks, this is literally her only downfall as far as how dogs behave

I was just kidding about the liking you part.

But if a dog won't hang around where it gets fed, it isn't meant to be. Out in the country dumb dogs get run over running the roads, smart dogs stay home and stay fed.

It's basically evolution taking place in front of you.

You should probably ask Chicken for a new name.

A dog will destroy a back yard out of boredom. Put it in a kennel run and they remain calm because it resembles more of a den. Trust me

I agree they're den animals, guess I'm lucky, my lab would dig holes as a puppy but never tried to escape. Now he just lays on the back porch.

This may be a problem. Like someone else said, build a dog run. They don't need THAT large of a yard all of the time. Let her out occasionally when you can supervise over the entire yard. Within the run, or if you feel like around your entire yard, you can run a tensioned wire right at, or preferably just underground along the bottom of the fence. I did it by tying the wire to a short length of rebar driven into the ground. I tied it about 3 inches from the top, but right at ground level. Once it was tight, I drove the bars about another inch into the ground so the wire was pulled slightly underground. Dog starts to dig and gets his paws hung up a few times and they learn. They hate that shite.

A 2x12 in front of the fence, wide side down. That requires a huge joke to get out. It would probably be cheaper than that hog wire idea. But anything that will make her dig a full on tunnel to get out will work.

This problem is simple. Be glad you don't have a climber, like this pretty bitch...

Electric fence, would keep her away from the actual fence. Also, depending on your fence, you could put a wire fence on the ground around the perimeter, let the grass grow up over it, and it would discourage digging at the fence line.

Not necessarily. Mine is an escape artist. But she's very extroverted and affectionate. She'll escape and find the nearest group of people or kids playing in their yard. 80% of the times she's escaped, when I got the call and picked her up, there's a kid holding her on a leash. I'm hoping she'll grow out if it when she fully matures. Though it would be a major problem, particularly with her breed, if she wasn't naturally sweet natured.

Okay, now you're talking real money. You need to go dumpster diving at some construction sites at the framing stage. Get as much lumber as you can, and lay it wide side down against the fence. Maybe even bury it a few inches. 2x4s should work okay, but the bigger the better.

Yeah. A miniature wire-hair dachshund. Little shite gets out every day.

We've had the same problems with mine. She's a Lab. We try to take time out and go walk or play in a field so she can burn all that energy and it works. When we fist got her, she would always get out but funny part was, she knew her way back home. Wed get up for work in the morning and she'd literally be laying down at the door as if she was waiting for us to come and open the gate so she could go back. We found out she would dig under the fence so we just poured concrete over the area. Just enough to stop the digging, not too much. So we fixed that problem then she started fricking up the fence. I never caught her doing it so I don't know how but I would go back there and see she broke through a plank or two. Either pushed them or weakened them. We just got new ones and cut a few up to add support near the bottom of them on both sides. Hope that helps your case, know my worst fear was her getting ran over or attacking some innocent.

TLDR - Fix the fence - new planks/add support or pour concrete over the area she digs.

Also - you'd be surprised the areas they can escape from . Our lab is huge and never fails to amaze watching her squeeze though really tight places so make sure there aren't any holes you think are too small for her to escape through.

Standard chicken wire. I used that to make my fence a few feet taller, so mine would quit climbing over it.
