It’s messed up that they come up with cures for diseases that people bring upon themselves like aids but diseases where the innocent suffer so much from they don’t even bother to try to fix it like baldness and hangovers

Been taking 0.5 mg finasteride for years
It has definitely slowed if not stopped hair loss

Here’s the science I’ve read behind it in addition to some of my own opinions/observations on things the medical community has yet to determine. If I’m wrong on anything, feel free to interject
Testosterone is converted into DHT or Estrogen
Higher DHT levels typically coincide with male pattern baldness, if genetically pre-disposed, in addition to more pronounced body hair growth. While the mechanism is known, via 5-alpha reductase, the reasons for it occurring is supposedly a mystery.
My guess would be spermatogenesis, but that’s not confirmed
The hairs that bald actually become miniaturized, much like a very fine peach fuzz. This is the opposite of the body hairs that begin to grow in their place, which originally existed as peach fuzz but is now mature, darkened, and growing.
So DHT essentially triggers growth of body hair while simultaneously shutting off scalp hair growth. This starts around the frontotemporal area and recedes back, with thinning occurring on the crown in some people
For those with full blown male pattern baldness, they will eventually only have hair in an area resembling a horseshoe from the ear to ear, around the back of the scalp
The solution to this is limiting production of DHT. There are a few ways to do it, one is shutting down the bodies access testosterone. No test, no ability to produce DHT
But no test isn’t ideal, so an alternative solution is shutting down the bodies ability to convert testosterone into DHT
That’s where finasteride and dutasteride come in. They inhibit alpha 5 reductase activity and impair the bodies ability to convert testosterone -> DHT. The result is the slowing of male pattern baldness as DHT production is virtually shut down.
In some cases, previously mature scalp hair which was converted into inactive peach fuzz may actually be reactivated. Along with this, body hair growth may be deactivated as DHT levels fall. But that varies person to person
Minoxidil/rogaine are simply vasodilators that assist with blood flow which is imperative for hair health, like any other part of the body. This may also assist in reactivating the previously dormant follicles
As for hair transplants, while they can use hair from anywhere on the body, they prefer to use it from the area that isn’t prone to balding, aka the horseshoe area referenced above.
They basically uproot the non-balding follicles and move them to the new desired location. Think of it like digging up a plant and burying it in a new location, which if done properly, will survive and grow again.
The downside is the hair itself will die shortly after the transplant due to loss of blood flow once it’s uprooted. The existing hair shift will no longer grow, break off from the follicle a few weeks later, and be shed.
However transplanted follicle remains alive, embedded in the scalp, having entered a 2-3 month dormant stage following the trauma. After a few months of passed, it will activate once again and start growing as normal hair, like if shaved or plucked
Additional notes: a decrease in DHT can actually result in an increase in testosterone. The downside is estradiol/estrogen levels may be increase as the testosterone may now be converted into estrogen rather than DHT
A solution for this is can be pairing the 5-a reductase inhibitor with an aromatase inhibitor, which blocks estrogen production, but you should talk to an endocrinologist/urologist before going that route. Also get your blood checked every 3-6 months to see how you react to the medications

I guarantee they could do it if they wanted to right now for the public by inserting the growth agent and covering it with a temporary non-toxic cement, but to your point the dentist association would lose their mind.

This might be the part that sucked the most. The more hair I lost on my head the more it grows everywhere else. It’s like well shite I d rather be bald and also not have random patches of back hair too. Thanks genetics.

Modern medicine has not advanced as far as you think. As the user of the comment above said, almost no disease can be cured completely. People have learned to prolong life and maintain a balanced state. But problems with joints, bones, and organs cannot be eliminated.

Thos is Big Wig and Big Minoxidil keeping the cure from us. It's out there somewhere in the rainforest if we'd just stop cutting it down!!! Think of all the future children going bald, please.
