Found out yesterday that my Mother In-Law has Lung Cancer. Initial diagnosis...not sure of the details of stage and specific type. My wife lost her best friend to secondary breast cancer in her lungs just over a year ago. I sat down this morning, thinking of the people I have known who have been wrecked by it.

My MIL was a life-long smoker...so lung cancer is a relatively natural consequence of her choices...still, it sucks. We all go sometime, and we don't get to choose how we go...but I'd bet that if people could choose...nobody would choose to go that way. I'm concerned about my MI-L and her fight ahead.

I'm amazed we can put a man on the moon but we can't cure cancer.

In the same way JFK said, "We're going to the moon", I wish a political candidate would say, "We're curing cancer!".

And slash NASA's budget until cancer is cured. Too many people are dying on Earth from a disease that we can cure. That's more important RIGHT NOW than sending shite up in space.

Thank you. One of my best friends just celebrated 15 years cancer free...but he had Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma...I have another friend that is 25 years cancer free after battling with Hodgkin's.

I appreciate your prayers. I pray for your continued good health, as well.

How about we cut entitlements from those who abuse the system first.

Oh I'd prefer that, but I didn't want to hear all the crying and shite fit throwing by the liberals.

My girlfriend is going thru chemo for breast cancer right now. I feel you. Fortunately hers is not very life threatening so I can only imagine the feelings once that gets thrown in. Best to you, I know it's not easy.

It amazes me how many people she has come into contact with going thru the same thing.

I received a diagnosis of CLL which is a chronic form of Leukemia. Doesn't require treatment right now, which I am thankful. At some point it will. Kind of weird not knowing one day to the next when it will turn on you.

For those interested in more insight into the disease and the history in regards to treatment(s), pick up the book "Emperor of All Maladies". Incredible read. My mother died of cancer....wish I had read the book BEFORE she died.

If reading is a challenge, PBS had a mini-series on the book. You can prolly find it on you-tube.
