We all know about the numerous plants in this area and the inherent risks of living nearby. As someone who has grown up in this area and been personally affected by cancer it seems there is a something unique to this area. I've known too many peole, especially young people, who have come down with uncommon types of terminal cancer and died. I'm not one who subscribed to conspiracy theories but the cancer rates and types in this area are alarming.

This is an area of Louisiana which was had a thriving rice industry. Rice required lots of water and lots of questionable chemicals spread by airplane into potential water sources.

TLDR. Water table in SWLA is causing cancer. OT's thoughts?

SETX also. There is a reason they call it the Carcinogenic Coast.

Lack of genetic diversification and poor personal health habits lead to this before any issues with chemicals in the air/water.

Dude this isn't the 1960s and DDT. Get a grip. Just about everything you eat has some sort of chemical, that is not naturally occurring, in it.

Contamination from oil and gas operations is the real culprit

My grandfather was a rice farmer. I worked on his farm into the 1990's. I've seen 24D sprayed by crop dusters across hundreds of acres. Dram was as well.

River parishes are a lot worse than LC area I think.

LOL at people saying living near heavy industry doesn't have any adverse health effects.

My younger brother was a health conscious non smoker. Died suddenly at age 22 from Ewing's. Not a single case in my family prior to him on either side.

Another case. Farmers son who passed away at age 19 suddenly from lung cancer. No medical history. Nonsmokers and he was an active basketball player.

Sweet. I've worked on a golf course for 10+ years, and have applied, first-hand just about every chemical family you could imagine putting on turf, with 0 problems.

Glyphosate and 24D is childs play when it comes to what I've applied.

It's not like Dow, BASF or Bayer just comes out with some new chemical and BAM everyone uses it. It takes about 5-7 years for a new chemical to come onto the market after thousands of trials and millions of dollars spent to research its effects upon nature/humans/animals/other crops, if there are any.

LSU Health Sciences Center has published several studies on this.

The findings suggest that cancer rates around the plant are no different than the national average.

Are you in an area with or without city water supply?

Because of 2, abnormal cases, you're blowing the whistle that farmers are kicking the bucket because of chemicals?!?!

I'll repeat again. Round-Up and 24D are basic crop chemicals that have been used for a very, very long time.

Do you have any data, at least one piece of evidence, that you can share with us?

the "water table" in SWLA is like 10 ft

do you think that is where your drinking water is coming from?
